Gary Megson lives in Sheffield and will only manage Wednesday.

I saw it more than just a faltering team from Irvine.  We were shockingly bad and, after a good start to the season we were losing games left, right and centre and dropping down the league like a stone.  To come in when he did and keep that squad up was no mean feat.

He then signed the likes of Bywater, Baath, Lliera, Rob Jones, Semedo, Ben Marshall, COG and finally Antonio and got us up to third.

You might not like the man, might not like his playing style or methods but he's a very good manager.

I quite like Megson and don't mind his playing style as long as it gets results, but I don't think he'd be the right man for our current predicament based on what happened the last time he was here.

When he arrived in February, we were 12th in League One. He then picked up fewer points per game then Irvine had, and took us to 15th in the table. Some of the performances we had to endure were shocking, too: including losing 3-0 to Tranmere, 4-2 to Plymouth, and 4-1 to Peterborough.

With a summer in which he was allowed to ship out a lot of players and sign many more, Megson assembled a strong squad that was capable of promotion, but when taking over a struggling squad, he simply had us struggling even more.

DC needs to be told there's an option that lives and bleeds Wednesday living 7 miles from Hillsborough. He doesn't need to work but help the young manger at Oxford but wouldn't take the job from him. Could have gone overseas but doesn't fancy that. If any one here has a way to get in DC ear he's sick of the mess down there and is ready for the challenge. FACT. always wanted to end with that.

Obviously you’ve had too much extra sleep...if Megson were a manager he’d be managing. His ‘90s style of football ended years ago and I’m glad it has.

There are two types of manager: lump it forward and chase or pass it around and entertain the crowd.

There are two types of fan. One that wants results at any cost and one that pays for entertainment; both want as many wins as possible.

Monk might not be good enough but our club is run by a footballing idiot. A clever man would have retained Mandaric for a season to show him how to run a football club. DC is a fool with his dads money...we’re a sick club. Replace Monk? We’re still a sick club.

Good post, not saying Megson should manage us again, his days are over.

But the way some try & put a negative spin on Megsons time has my head scratching, for the reason.

Megson built a promotion winning team, with unknown players, he just fell out with Chairman, which was his Achilles Heal, as a manager.

Eh?

He couldn’t get us promoted so we had to bring in Dave Joneś to do it

Megson came in and made some changes that were effective at first.

The style of football, combined with making the pitch less wide.   He had a certain way of motivation too, worked with some players not with others.

He's the type of person we should be looking at, maybe not exactly him though.

Thats you opinion, no one knows the ending, has Megson stayed.

The facts are he ended the mini bad run, won a 6 pointer, against the pigs & left us in third.

The facts are that his final signing (a future prem player) was a massive factor, the loss of Ched was huge.

And yes Jones, got the results, to take us from 3rd to 2nd. It was a Megson side. Who knows if the new manager effect was the key factor. It certainly wasn't Jones superior management skills.

I don't know why people try to understate Megsons time as manager.

It's my opinion that had him & Mandaric worked it out, we would be in the Premier League, how.

Let's not rewrite history though mate

When Megson got booted out the team were losing games, their heads were down, Megson had run out of ideas, and the football was way worse than anything we're watching under Monk

That's not opinion - those are cold hard facts

We fired him so we could get promoted as he'd failed badly

Do you genuinely not know the difference between facts & opinion?

A fact = we were 3rd, after beating 2nd

An opinion = Megson had run out of ideas & their heads were down.

Jones did bugger all except told the players to do their thing The players got us promoted,,(according to Ryan Low ,) but no matter those against such as Megson ought to stand back and take a bloody good  look at the fantastic situation we are in  now . Ken Dodd

could o a better job

Read a couple of days ago might have been in here that Megson has been applying for jobs and been accepted for one. Then the day after he'd been accepted he got a call to say they'd decided to go for somebody else. If the rumours are true about why he left Wednesday he made a powerful enemy and maybe Chansiri has considered him but said enemy put him off?

He might not be everyone's cup of tea but when he because manager this club was on it's knees and apathy was rife. He got players in who wore the shirt with pride and gave the club an identity again.
