In all likelihood, it's a completely different budget and different negotiators. Haslam is Academy chief, he's probably dealing with this, not Monk and the recruitment team. Over the last few years we have signed players like this. Some just play for U23s. Occasionally you get a Lavery or Thorniley who make it to our first team after being released by a club. I think it's worrying that they're not through the door for sure. But just because we haven't heard anything doesn't mean there's nothing in the pipeline. They'll want things kept quiet because of how delicate the market is now.
