Not a disaster

Recommended Posts

Tbf, we haven't really hit our stride away from home this season.

Even under Bruce (despite the undefeated run) it has been a bit meh, albeit with wins against Ipswich and Bolton (not the best teams).

Stoke have had a crap season, but they've got a new manager and some decent players, plus are on some sort of undefeated run too.

We are going to know within the next two games against Villa and Forest. Quite simply, we've got to be picking up 6 points.

Disagree.

In the context of the playoffs, today is indeed a disaster. If you looked at the fixtures before today, and the dream required an unlikely mix of wins and draws (and mainly wins!), this just had to be a win. It had to be.

Derby and Bristol city have had massive days; Villa are on a massive run.

"Two points off" was always, and "three points off" now is a conveniently false picture. Apart from the momentum of an unbeaten run, everything is against us; games in hand, goal difference, fixture list.

The overall picture is really good for Wednesday, but for this year, the dream ended today

Stoke are a decent side...Misfiring but decent....

Villa , Forest , Bristol...They will be more nervous than us...As might Leeds and Norwich...

All We can do is keep plugging away...

Lets be honest this scenario was a bloody pipe dream a few months ago...

I don't think we can do it...but we can have some reight fun on the way....

your right Stoke have got a great side on paper, can't understand why they ain't at the top,misfiring...very true

The actual "Disaster" was averted when we got Bruce in and Luhakay out...Through a mixture of timing and luck.

Had luhakay stayed much longer, or had he been replaced by someone equally incompetent..We would probably be facing "Disaster".

Give Bruce a season to sort the squad out, close season to get rid of some of the deadwood...and see where we are.

He's made what?...3 signings , loans and permanent....and we have gone from looking at the bottom of the table to the play offs...?

Its quite remarkable, you might say...

We are at the last mashings of the season and we can still trip down there and shout for something, no matter how unrealistic we think it.

Just do that...Its better than sitting on the South knitting

Of all the things that’s gone on this season, a draw away to stoke has not cost us a playoff spot.

It was aimed at someone celebrating Bristol a team above us with 2 games in hand winning

And I agree with all you say

the lack of belief to go for it today really annoyed me today ,good point but if we actually went for it we'd be 2 points better off

Surely the starting line up was a statement of intent

We didn't have the ammunition to go for it..

Fletcher injured...Aaron injured, Hooper not match fit, FF not match fit...

It was not a lack of belief..It was simply a matter of being able to do sod all about it...I reckon

As predicted the wet lettuces out in force, we draw instead of win and it's all over.

Well no it isn't.

Hooper, FF and Winnall get match time - we draw against a team that is tough to beat.

the real test is the next 3 home games, we need 3 wins.

3points is nothing in this league.

not for me

everyone knows Hooper and Fernando are a terrible pairing upfront

winnall and Hooper with Fernando on left is what we should be playing .

also the players didn't take risks ,too predictable today and a poor stoke team made us look ordinary.people banging on about stoke look good on paper, its not played on paper, villa derby would have beat a terrible stoke team today ,thats the difference in making the playoffs ,a point on the board but like others have said, our season is relying on us winning rest of our games, play like we did today and we'll be outta contention by next week

In the context of the 90 minutes we've just played, the point was a fair and decent result, but it seemed like a disjointed performance and that's a bit worrying.

With only 3 points in it still, it's obviously not over, but this was a missed opportunity nevertheless.

Great that Preston lost at least because they'd been the form side amongst those teams chasing 5th and 6th.

Yes the odds are certainly stacked against us, albeit better the we could have hoped for a few months ago.
