Is Carlos stubborn or incompetant?

Recommended Posts

When Carlos joined it seemed like we found a top manager who had written books about coaching and knew everything and how out think other manager. But we didn't have the best players

Now its strange as it seems it's the manager that may be the thing holding us back.

Last season we had players like FF, Abdi and Mcmanaman who couldnt get into the starting line up whilst the first team laboured with ugly performances in a 442 formation.

I think a different manager would get more from the players he's been given

I think we could have turned ourselves into serious promotion favorites by spending 10 mil on 2 full backs and a centre back. It screams out at you. Yet he hasnt moved on even one of these issues and hasnt addressed obvious problems in tactics from last year, like getting not enough out of wingers and having too much of a gap between midfield and attack. These things are really obvious yet haven't been dealt with. It is the obviousness of these problems that has led to fans being annoyed. He must have noticed these problems therefore he has to have chosen not to deal with them and hope us to be as effective as other teams that have improved. A bit strange.

If you had read his wiki profile when he first came, you would have realised where this was going.  The sooner he is sacked the better.

Stubborn as a mule but I can't figure out why judging by recent performances.

2 seasons we've come close to promotion so I wouldn't say incompetent just yet, but he's slipping that way by not playing attacking football when he has the undisputed best strike force in the league.

Play to your strengths...easy.

absolutely this we should be scoring for fun this season but every one has to track back and do a job...roger that bobbar I don't care if we let in 2 goals a game we have the talent to be doing what Watford did and score 3 or 4 or 5 every game...but no doesn't like wingers wants players to track back bla bla bla....I am done with the man he gave it a fantastic shot but we need a fresh approach now to try and get where we need to be...can see us doing a Cardiff under dave Joneso. ..the nearly team every year but.never get over the line WAWAW

Its all personal opinions but my view on football is the same as above, that you have to have a team that when they go on the pitch is capable of scoring 2-3 goals in the game. It may not happen due to luck, good goalkeeping etc, but if you can't score goals you won't win enough games for promotion. So I'd prefer to have the Man City Kevin keegan team winning games 5-3 than trying to win 1-0 and when the opposition get lucky penalties or your centre back gets injured during an attack you are screwed.

Had the Leeds Utd, board, players and fans not believed that Brian Clough was both stubborn and incompetent, they might well have won the old first division championship along with two European Champion's cups. The one thing that I am 100% certain of in respect of professional football club management is that I know bog all about it, it's just a pity that some wannabe managers don't stick to their day jobs.

"We really need the centre half. I have give  the Chairman the names. I don't get involved in the finances or that side,  you must understand this. We know we need players in some positions.  I know who we want. We make the list. But I work with the players. I don't get involved with the finances. ...(Interviewer- a Would you like to be more hands on with the transfers?)  .No, I don't want to. I am all about football.  I want to work with the players.  The Chairman , the club they work very hard to get in the players I have asked for. Especially the centre half, I target players, they then try to bring them for us. It is not always easy. But they try and get who I ask for"

I suppose the defender about to come in suggest Carlos won't be replaced anytime soon. Which is fair enough

Lets hope as it's a loan for now, that the money we think we have can be spent on strengthening other areas before the end of August

we all wanted a better start this season, but as long as we have a better side by 1st sept we still have a chance for promotion this season

By "he", do you mean Chansiri?

In which case I would say that he has made a lot of mistakes in the transfer market, but he is still learning and he has been badly advised by his player signing committee of specialists and even more badly let down by his specialist team of contractual experts who keep failing to deliver Carlos's list of players. Carlos said he wanted two centre halves last season and he ended up having to pull some strings at the last minute to get Sasso in when everybody else had failed. This season he has had to do it again and sweet talk his old club into bending over backwards so that we can get their captain in on a years loan and pay for him next year, when the poor spending can be balanced out into another season's budget.

Well done Carlos and get your fingers out, you player signing committee or DC, whichever one of you it is. You cannot spend every penny on one player when you have promised fans two defenders, as they are wondering whether or not to buy season tickets, then tell them after the deadline, sorry but it has to be within FFP and the money has been spent already. The fantastic early start that we were going to have this season for a change is now is looking like a big mistake by Carlos, when all he has asked for, two summers and a January window ago, is two decent quality centre halves.

We are six points into the season now and have just one point, with two defensive glitches costing us 5 points up to now.and could be more before the deadline kicks in.

I definitely agree, Carlos should be stubborn and insist that the powers that be keep their promises to him and to us fans and get those key defenders into the club pronto!

Powerless on transfers , which makes life difficult for all specialist staff at Hillsborough.

And so would any replacement be.

Completely and absolutely correct (or THIS, if you prefer).

Does anybody ever think about what has already been said before they post drivel about why they want Carlos out?

I have not heard anybody yet accuse DC of letting us down in respect to promotions and missing key players and yet the players brought in are DC's responsibility along with his advisors, whoever they may be. I would say that the original committee of advisers that brought in and signed players like Hooper, Forestieri, Wallace, Hunt Lopez, Bannan and Pudil, despite the slagging off they got on here and on other forums, did a better overall job of getting good players in than whoever is responsible for doing so now Again, just to underline that point again and make it perfectly clear to those who are now having difficulty finding things to blame on our almost perfectly performing head coach/team manager...

Hello! Carlos is not responsible for signing players at SWFC.

QED.

This, absolutely - on this basis every manager in any league who is not placed 1st or 2nd is incompetent. It's fortunate 'normal' jobs aren't based on this hypothesis else we'd be all out of work.

Any body with half a brain watching us against Hull City in the playoff final, and seeing Dawson and Davis eat our attack, knew we needed at least two Centre Halves, yet Carvalhal who brought in "Michael Turner" because he didn't trust   Loovens, who should have been a squad player, then told every body who ask him the question in 2016|2017, if we needed new Centre Halves? replied, NO NO NO! i have SEMEDOOOO! and SAM!!! when he's not injured or suspended and you Facking Idiots went along with it, and shouted down any body who dare mention it on this Site, so yes he is incompetent but so are about 70% of the Owls fan base, who have only woken up to the fact we needed Central Defenders, because Carvalhal finally  admitted it about 6weeks ago, but the "S$it has hit the Fan" and he is now scraping the barrel in Portugal, so you "Made your beds now lie in them".

Although Carlos has said he wants 2 CB, he also said he wanted 5 players at the start of the season. If we include Rhodes and Boyd that means 3 players required including two CB. The other one may be a RB with all the Hutton links. Even though 4 LB have been signed- Pudil, Wiggins, Fox and Urby I still think this is a weaker area. Hunt and Palmer are far better than the four LB's.

Carlos is the one that the press fire the questions, he has to come up with answers. If he has been told that there is no money then he will say that Hutchinson / Semedo will be good enough at CB. No problem with Hutchinson at CB, i prefer him here rather than midfield, so when he is fit i would move him here permanent. Semedo has left so forget that one.

With our new CB that means Carlos is two players short and may bring more loan players in, he never said they would be permanent signings
