Ever the pessimist
He wasn't on £100K per week. You don't agree because you clearly have no understanding of how it works. Neither does most of Owlstalk. All I read is how can average Champ player be worth £4m when established Prem player only costs £4m? Because the transfer fee is only a small part of the cost. The Champ player might be on £20k per week, the PL player on £80k per week. So actually if both players sign 4 year contracts, the Champ player costs £8m (£4m+ £1m per year) , the PL player costs £20m. The PL player is far more expensive but the naive fan sees both deals as costing £4m. That's not how it works! I understand the notion of the player benefitting from being able to ask for wages that the buying club are saving from the reduced fee. Still can't imagine that Southampton would be making Austin one of the most highly paid players in premier league history though.

David Gill said 100k to get West Ham fans off his back (Basic Tory rhetoric, make something up and it becomes a fact if it remains unchallenged). 60k at most, can't be much higher than what he was receiving from QPR. Benefits ballooning )
marcx666
WEDNESDAY NEAR BENNETT DEAL Sky sources are telling us that Sheffield Wednesday are expecting the Aston Villa left-back Joe Bennett at Hillsborough today for a medical. The 25-year-old has been on loan at Bournemouth this season, but hasn’t featured for the first team.

WezOwl1989
Think joe Bennett is a poor signing , he might be a VILLA player (don't touch, a nob with impotence has more confidence) he's been at Bournemouth and played 0(zero) games .... Really disappointed so far so many rumours ... Why does nobody want to come to our massive club ... :-(
