ReadingOwl
My only worry is that we are not comprehensively beating teams. Even at home. I even expect a struggle/nail biter against Yeovil this weekend. Even the Blades are putting teams to bed early at the Lane. I just wish we were seeing some exceptional form. Some momentum. That is what we need for automatic. We seem to be still 'holding back'. A good mullering of Yeovil would help.

I think the Huddersfield match had all our seasons issues in one game, slow start, the ability to pummell teams and then collapse again. When COG got that 4th goal, I was telling myself that this would be our season, it was such a come back. Then was brought back to earth again by the end of the game. I dont think weve recovered properly since that game in terms of putting a really good run together. Weve been fantastic this season in terms of what we usually get, but weve been unable to put games to bed for a long time now and thats why I think we may drop some so called "easy points" between now and the end of the season. cbr_bob
Statistically I see us getting 34 which would put us on 88, a good haul. At Xmas looking at what we had done throughout the season I saw us as an improving team from a bit of a dodgy start but I now see that improvement levelling off - it's gonna be close no matter which way you look at it Edited February 2, 2012 by cbr_bob
Daz
Phew! Another one ticked off. So, 33 required from 17 games: 11 wins or more 10 wins, 3 draws, 4 losses or 9 wins, 6 draws, 2 losses or 8 wins, 9 draws, 0 losses Almost in single figure win territory.... Key
Current stat's: 57 points from 29 games = 1.97 (let's call it 2!) Keep that form up in the remaining 17 games gives us another 34 points, so 91 in total; that's got to be enough for 2nd surely?
PolarNigel
(WIN) Yeovil H (LOSS) Exeter A (WIN) Stevenage H (DRAW) Chesterfield A (LOSS) Sheffield Utd H (WIN) Rochdale A (WIN) Bury H (WIN) Bournemouth H (DRAW) Notts County A (WIN) Walsall H (WIN) Leyton Orient A (WIN) Preston H (LOSS) Huddersfield A (WIN) Oldham H (LOSS) Colchester A (LOSS) Carlisle H (DRAW) Brentford A (WIN) Wycombe H Gives me 32 points, and i think that'll do it, too many teams in the top 6 play each other over the next month or so. Daz
I really think 90 will be enough. We are just 2 points behind what Brighton had after 29 games last season. We are 8 points ahead of what Southampton had - and they finished with 92 points. Also, we are a MASSIVE 21 points ahead of where we were last season - fantastic progress! Utah Owl
Table looks much better now. If we can get something next Saturday at Exeter that would be huge for me 'cos we always seem to get mullered there.
Daz
Even back in Big Jack's day! Owe them one for the double they did over us last season - and one of the most embarassing results in our history. If we win, it will be a big 3 points. airborne_rat_of_s6
My prediction is whoever finishes in 2nd place will need to break the 95pt barrier to do it. I agree - no one is letting up at the moment and there is no sign this is changing. Will come down to whoever holds their nerve and drops the fewest points against other contenders. Daz
I'm not sure I agree with this. The top 6 have lots of games to play against each other - so points have to be dropped - just like today when Huddersfield and MKD both dropped 2 points each. For example, Huddersfield need 35 points to even get to 90 points, from 17 games left - and of those 17, they have to play games against 1st, 2nd, 4th and 6th. There will always be some surprise results against the bottom teams fighting for their lives as we get nearer to the end of the season. Still think 90 will be enough - but that should be our minimum target, just in case!
Guest Willyowl
If we get 90 we go up. If. Gonna be a great end to the season, UTO!
Owl Rly
Hate to say it but i only get 33 pts too.Squeeky bum time. Anyone got a link for bbc league 1 predictor. Cant seem to find it. Just did a search of their website and they said they have done away with the football predictor feature in their new, vile redesign. Shame. NeonLeon
If we want the full haul of 48 points we'll get it. Its whether we want it enough. The talents there we just need to start showing the application. I'd love someone to give a valid reason why we can't hit between 40 - 45 points. We'll settle down again in March no doubt. parkfieldowl14
Stevanage and Carlisle are both playing better now, more consistent than earlier in the season and will probably be a big factor as to how many points they can take off the top 5 clubs. Bournmouth could do well too and teams like Brentford are difficult to beat. I think 90 points will be almost certainly be good enough for 2nd and would be very surprised if 3rd placed team gets more than 90. out of those 3 teams you've just mentioned,Bournemouth might just be the team that has a late flourish and gets into the top 6.
