Popular Post Jim
OK I’m not a fan of perspective threads but I do think we need some tonight. We’re still in the bottom three (even though during the 90 minutes we were out of it for a period of time) on goal difference. Yes, goal difference. It wasn’t that long ago that we were 12 points off 21st place. As I’ve said before we probably should be going into Easter Monday in the position Rotherham are. Expecting relegation to all be but confirmed. But we’re not. We go to Middlesbrough with a chance of getting out of the bottom 3. It’s a slight chance but a chance nontheless. We didn’t play too bad today. Once again the lack of quality in both boxes cost us for the umpteenth time but that’s not on the manager. He inherited in essence a League 1 squad with a handful of exceptions after the worse start to a season in championship history. To be going into the last 7 games still with a chance of staying up is purely and simply down to how he’s managed this group of players. I still believe we can do this. We’re battle hardened and even though we didn’t win today we’ve bounced back sort of after the 6-0 hammering at Ipswich. We’re fighting and we go to Middlesbrough with a chance of getting something. We’re all in this together. Let’s keep on going to the end and hopefully we’re all celebrating come the end of the season. 37 6
owls maniac
We have no other choice. Got to keep going. We only have to be 21st after the last game of the season.
Popular Post Bukta
For a bit of perspective I thought that first half was awful. I’m afraid relegation is a little bit closer after today.
Athelwulf
The snag is that today is the sort of game we needed to win if we're to stay up. We'll get nothing at 'Boro playing as we did today.

Yes, one leg in League One now unfortunately. What today shows is that we are, in all honesty, a League One outfit. Unless Poveda makes a miraculous recovery we're down.
The Dukeries Owl
But for a little bit of calmness in front of goal that should have been 3 points- story of the season. Please football gods, surely we can't go a whole season without a penalty can we?

This 100% We dropped 2 points today. But still made up space on 21st. Keep the faith, we'll get there
Popular Post lukeyswfc
There’s a reason we are the lowest scorers. In both boxes we are poor. We have a lot of vastly overpaid players but after a win everyone is wishing new contracts for them. The style Röhl has had us playing has gotten us hammered a few times, however it’s also got us to GD away from staying up. It’s the players that aren’t good enough. Today was must not lose for me, it wasn’t a gimmie, Swansea needed a win to likely be all but safe. Boro however now have nowt but pride to play for, we need to be at them from the first whilst. Not many left but now we are level and for the first time this season briefly we were out of the bottom 3. I have faith in Röhl

No, no, no. Darren Moore had a 'Championship-ready squad' which should have walked the league last season, don't you remember? 2

If the football gods treat us how they have for most of the last 20-odd years then we will get a penalty in the last minute at Sunderland to stay up.......... ...........and miss it! Jim
Just now, areNOTwhatTHEYseem said: No, no, no. Thing is we are where we were under Sturrock and Jones desperately trying to stay up in that first season back in the championship. If we can then perhaps we can build to at least get to the point we were when DC first arrived.

Sparkwell76
Big picture seems to be DR is a very good coach, ekeing as much as he can from a very poor side. We’ve really struggled in the last several seasons to grasp any of our opportunities (eg Forest Green) and today was yet another missed chance. I’d love us to pull it out of the hat but I’m not sure we’re going to turn our away form around at Boro. Needs a Peterborough moment for about 3 games… 1
Roy Of The Roasters
3 points between us and 19th, 5 points to 16th. A win would make things look very different. It didn't happen today unfortunately but we're absolutely still in the fight to stay up.

I was being facetious, poking fun at the Owlstalk narrative which some built up last season when it suited their agenda.
alanharper
Reminded me of the games v Bristol C, Middlesbrough and Forest towards the end of the 2021 relegation season. Knew how important a win was, but seemed lethargic, farted about, never really looked threatening and dropped vital points that ultimately saw us relegated.

areNOTwhatTHEYseem
8 minutes ago, happy days said: 38% win record from 29 games is relegation, there is your perspective Eh? That win percentage gets you 52 points, and almost certain safety, over the course of a season. Add in a handful of draws and you're probably pushing for a top half finish. 5
the_vinyl_frontier
Even without the ref doing his best to get Swansea points, we deserved to win that, even not playing well, missing our current most influential player. Gutted we only got a point, but with a less inept ref, we would have won 2-0
TrickyTrev
Given our terrible goal difference, we need to win 4 of our last 7 games. We are running out of matches and the window for error in a getting smaller. Edited March 29 by TrickyTrev
