Talked football with him, but he never revealed to me he was a Wednesdayite. Lovely guy. One story I have which I hope I've remembered correctly, I'm sure he mentioned that when he signed for Palace from Barnsley (think it was Peter Taylor who signed him) he was told he'd be no 1, which clinched the deal. He was given the no 1 shirt, but wasn't the no 1 goalie, he was put on the bench at the start of the season.
