Room for more than one club badge, so why not the classic?

It isn't the minimalism that dates it, it's the overall design.

Many people are swayed by their memories of the badge and us playing in it in great times etc. But in isolation the current one, although not perfect, is a big improvement.

Show me any logo that isn't clean and minimalist.

Nike. Adidas. Apple. Android etc....

There's a reason why one of the world's biggest musicians (Drake) uses a similar logo.

Forest and Derby now have the best badges in the championship for me

The current one was specifically selected by the chairman due to its heritage design (read: old looking).  How is that any improvement over the clean, identifiable logo that follows de riguer form for branding right now?

I like that we're using a version of our original club crest - you could say it looks old, but to me it speaks to our heritage. I always thought it looked classy when I saw it on old programmes from when my dad was a lad, and although I thought the 70s owl looked decent, it looks very much of its time to me now.

I suppose the issue with chasing modern 'branding' trends is that after a few years everything looks dated again, whereas our original crest is more timeless.

To be fair, the current badge has grown on me. it does look quite nice.

The old badge was however, perfect!......Instantly recognizable, minimalistic, simple, memorable, unique.

Did I read at some point that it was actually based on the letters S.W.?, because it certainly looks like it.

An inspired stroke of genius, perhaps THE most iconic design in the world, it really is THAT good.

Similar in what it conveys to Forest's badge, Simple, does the job, unique to the club it represents.

It WILL return at some point, and it wouldn't hurt to have it on a few items for supporters to purchase if they wish.

Mind you, looking at the player names you can have printed on the new shirts from the "personalise it" drop down menu

on the official website I doubt there is anyone in the marketing and merchandise department who knows what day it is!

Joao?, Abdi,???? Pudil????? Really?...….and no option for Rhodes, who, like him or not ,IS our record signing and possibly

a better option to have on your shirt than Abdi...…….it's just slack in my opinion.

I agree. To be fair both the current modified original badge and the more modern looking old badge have positives. The classic subtle badge was simplistic, iconic and recognisable. It was a eye-catching classic like the likes of Ajax; Sampdoria, Valencia, Wolves, Newcastle, Norwich and Forest's badges. I do like both badges and can understand the reasoning for reviving the original badge but the old badge was more effective and iconic.

Why don't the lovers of the 'iconic' badge (mainly younger middle age) do what we oldies had to do when the 'iconic' was first introduced in place of our older historic badge had to do grin and bear it You may find tat, in time, it will grow on you.

If you are over 60 you like the new Chansiri badge

If you are under 60 you like the minimalist Owl

If your under 15 you support Man U anyway...

Not true in my case - I am over 60 and I prefer the minimalist badge.
