Liverpool are relentless. If the pigs get owt from this game I would be very surprised.

That save from Henderson was fantastic.

Nah that one was wrong.

Ball touches the ref, it's a drop ball to the attacking team.

Correct, but in that case the ref didn't touch it, Fleck controlled the ball 5 yards in front of him then tried to blame the ref for his poor touch.

Ref was stood right on top of him. The touch doesn't happen if he doesnt get in the way.

That's one VAR missed.

VAR was consulted, it didn't miss anything because the ref did not touch the ball, them's the rules!

Problem is, had the ref stopped play himself even after the ball had gone it, would VAR had said he was wrong? No, because there is no precedent for it. Either way could have been legal. It should have been a Blades free kick, not a goal though IMO.

The ref didn't stop play because he didn't touch the ball - that is the rule - why would he stop play otherwise? Watch the highlights, ref didn't move into the way, he was there when the Utd player played a 5-yard pass to Fleck who failed to control it.

Why didn't he control it though? Cos he had the ref standing on his shoulder about to tackle him.

Its one if those the ref should have used common sense and stopped play. Had he chalked it off after it went in, VAR wouldn't have overturned it. One of them, both outcomes would be classed as correct and legal.

Going round in circles here but at least you acknowledge the correct decision was reached as there is nothing in the rules for the ref to stop play in this instance. Common sense would have been not to pass it into the area where the ref was already positioned. If he thought the ref was about to tackle him he should have controlled the ball better!

Had he decided to chalk it off for something that is not within the rules for him to chalk it off Man City would have been rightly apoplectic.

You seem to be getting your opinion mixed up with the rules. It’s only a free kick if the referee touches the ball. He didn’t. There was a VAR check and they saw that it was legitimate, so the goal stood.

VAR wouldn't havent given it though had he had that is my point.

Common sense would be for the referee to not be that close to play.
