Beautiful..

Only the South Stand looks fit for purpose these days, the North looks majestic but in an old fashioned ageing sort of way, the kops a dump an eyesore, looks like an old warehouse from the outside and the leppings lane end should have been levelled after the disaster.

In my opinion

..in all fairness...it looks like a reight mess from above in that photo. Only the North Stand looks decent.

Didn't think I'd ever say it, and maybe it's the camera angle but i think the ground and the immediate surrounding area look a complete shxt hole in that photo.

4 unique stands in much need of some TLC. Well you'd knock the lepp down completely... wouldn't you?

I wouldn't be sad to see it go. Far too much associated negatives. That sheet on the exterior is hilarious.

Let's talk about Kop leg room while we're at it - so uncomfortable! When I go on Kop I have to get aisle seats. Anyone over 6 ft I'd love to know how you manage that every other week.

Drone pics always welcome. Can you take it inside, or would you get in bother?

Or just realistic, not all new stadiums are soulless and let's be honest Hillsborough aint exactly atmosphere central lately, 2 5 second spurts of hi ho Sheffield Wednesday then the Kop rolls over looks knackered and lights a fag up

Cheers TM. I guessed that much, but how much more would it have added on?

Isn't it just a case of supporting brackets (or whatever those wrap around things at the back of the North Stand roof are called)? Could we retrospectively do it?

The pillars could be moved to the side by jacking up the roof, taking the present supports out and placing a stronger beam in spanning the roof.

The roof wouldn't weigh that much so could be held up by cranes whilst the beam is put in place.

Take a fair bit of structural analysis to make the call.  Also have to weigh up the option of a complete re-build vs modification through an investment appraisal-  assessments of the scope of what are feasible options, benefits vs disbenefits and costs. Sure there are other priorities in terms of infrastructure regeneration in the ground.

Where would you set these cranes on a million pound pitch?

It would need all working out that's for sure, but with my limited knowledge working in heavy construction I don't see it being too difficult, the way the roof is constructed there's wouldn't be a heavy burden on the beam, it would certainly be cheaper and less intrusive than a reconstruction.

But yes, rebuilding the West Stand should be the main priority.

You could site the cranes on the carpark at the back, then use pullys on the existing beam to hoist the new one in place, an 80m beam would be a doddle for Brunel.
