Sultan_Pepper
10th, 4th, 6th, 20th, 3rd, 2nd. Got used to the championship, had 2 really good seasons to get to the play offs. Then had an absolute nightmare season followed by two more great seasons and got promoted. Can't shake the feeling that we're on a similar kind of path to them and into the rubbish season. That season that they finished 20th they got rid of Hyypia just before Christmas and spent the second half of the season under Houghton and he turned things round then had some cracking free transfers (Sidwell, Murray, Knockheart). We need to find our Houghton.
OxonOwl
We'd be better trying find our Hughton.
steveger
Nope we are not as the big difference is Brighton have a proper manager who knows what he is doing in Houghton

matthefish2002
More likely to be Nottingham Forest who had a couple of goes in the Play Offs about 6-7 years ago but over spent at the same time. Not been anywhere near since and had a transfer embargo and nearly went down last season.
Jon Newsome
We will either be a Brighton or Watford, or a Derby/Forest. All depends on if we get the right man in for the job.
briggowl
Some similarities but the alarming difference is we've got some big players on huge wages and a lot in or approaching 30's. Pudil, Loovens, Wallace, Bannan, Lee, Abdi, Boyd, Hooper, Fletcher probably others. That's a lot of our first team loosing pace and energy and will to fight!!! The room for manoeuvre in the transfer market will be very limited for us. We have numerous ageing players on huge, lengthy contracts. The new manager will have major difficulty in turning this squad over.
Blue and white
Brighton have a chairman and a manager who know what they are doing, they are the very definition of a well run club and are light years ahead of us.
james o connor
No Brighton are a well run business with cracking facilities , an owner who knows what he’s doing and a quality manager. We have none of those things

Guest
Hughton was appointed just before Xmas of that season after Brighton had had 3 wins in 4 months. Didn't do too bad to finish 20th :D

Tears of a clown.... It wasn't a comment made with a favour of defending/lambasting Carlos. Just merely an observation that supports the argument that someone can have a bad season and get better results following it. Benefit of the doubt to Hughton as he didnt have a full season, he took over from the Hypia horror show.
Wath-owl
For anyone interested, here are the tables from that season after 21 games and final.

Nero
So many doomonger posters missed the point of the OP in it's embarrassing. And the point is that you can have a bad season a la Brighton, get rid of the manager, and get back on track. If the next manager is a good one. Nothing else but that. rob1601
Brighton have a Chief Exec and a good one at that, very experienced in UK football. SWFC do not and most likely will not and that bit is key. They also don't have an owner who appears in the team photo.
