Important season but ...I know some folk will seeth at this...but after watching the Premier League games this season in comparison to what the Championship has consistently delivered ...how bloody boring and rubbish is it. Most clubs will be also rans and touch a player and they go down like they been dropped by a sniper.

I love the Championship. I love the different types of games we get and I even like the dour, ugly wins and draws.

Stupid, obscene money in the Premier League and Europe. Just can't get my head around it.

I'm with you  mate......but...We will still all go mental if we get there.....

I hate the way football is going, but Wednesday being a part of the whole f.ookfest simply drags you in...

Leeds fan in peace, not here to troll or anything:wub:

Thought i would go round our promotion rivals forums and see there thoughts on the summer window, the players they got, players they wanted, players they would happily of seen go. Thoughts on your own clubs start and the rest of the Championship, who will struggle, who will surprise and finally top 3 and bottom 3

I'll answer in full - well almost - but I'd be interested to know gets your answers would be regarding Leeds.

i think overall our transfer window has been decent providing we back Carlos. If we get rid, I think another manager would be concerned that we have no real pace or width, nor height in midfield. I think we also lack a true dead ball specialist, but the squad probably reflects how Carlos wants to play and how he has had success so far.

Id have personally liked to see someone with pace out wide, a beast for midfield which means we stop playing a Hutch there (apart from specific games) and in my own humble opinion I'd have maybe liked to see us acquire a striker who could play up front on his own, with the thought there that we would then get rid of at least 1 or maybe 2 strikers.

A replacement for Palmer would have been a bonus, but I think overall we have top half Championship players, though few are irreplaceable.

Obviously I'm disappointed with our start and particularly our lack of goals. I think the Championship is very open and last year I was one of few who tipped Huddersfield to do well. I did have a little bet on them finishing above Leeds, but both of you did better than I expected, as did Reading.

I actually though Brejtfird would have a good year this year, but you can now replace them with Birmingham. Top 3. - Wolves, Middlesbrough and Leeds (I'll get slated for that), bottom 3 Brentford, Burton, Millwall.

Not sure anyone could be classed as a surprise and personally I really hope we finish top 6 and Leeds go into administration!

At this point I'll take football from us that's better to watch. Results I'm sure would follow too.

Do you think the manager will change his style?

I havent watched you guys much in truth, just the odd game on Sky when your on. But from what i saw you like to play out from the back very very slowly, no natural width, you dont play with natural wingers do you? Trying to remember back to last season isnt easy but thats what i remember i think.

I agree, we all want to get promoted, but once we get there unless you do a Southampton your getting battered most weeks and clinging on for the odd point here and there. I love how unpredictable this league is, us, Reading and Huddersfield were no where near anyones (most peoples) promotion candidates yet finished just outside and in the playoffs with one going up. Thats like West Brom finishing 3rd this year.

The main thing the winnall move does , is create a bit more clarity about who plays up front, even if it only takes one out of the equation, it goes some part to settling it.

The centre backs?...One would have been enough in my opinion.

Sasso should have been offered a new contract if he had wanted one, I thought he was improving, the only centre half who carried it forward occasionally.

Feel a bit sorry for Winnall, none of us know the exact ins and outs of the training ground spat

Id have kept Sasso as well, plus I thought hed do a decent job as cover for CM as well, clever footballer, very good in the air, composed on the ball.

I was dissapointed we didnt use the loan system to bolster RB,so Palmer will have to up his game after a poor display at Bolton, and a pacey option for the flanks, all in all it was a damp squib.

Thanks for the reply.

From reading here a bit its clear you guys were screaming for more cbs, you got two, cant say i know anything about them but knew nothing about Pontus Jansson before he came to Leeds and the dutch lad certainly has his height, could turn out to be your own Pontus.

George Boyd and Jacob Butterfield are good at this level, not much pace that i can see as you say but last season we had a rocket winger, and his crosses were more worrying  for the fans then the opposition, pace isn't everything when you have a good footballing brain like those 2.

On your striker point can Jordan Rhodes not play alone? Not sure whats happened to him, bang average since his Blackburn days imo. Really rate Sam Winnall, would of liked us to nab him, surprised you let him go. Perhaps Forestieri alone up front would work? We had Roofe up top against Notts Forest, similar to but not as good as Forestieri and he did well, movement creating space and pulling defenders out of position. Really rate Fernando Forestieri dont mind admitting that, but his attitude puts me off. Also think you have the best goalkeeper in the division, but not much flair and excitement outside of Forestieri, you had a Portuguese lad who scored a wonder goal against us, he looked decent.

You havent had the best of start as you say but neither have (Villa) Dads Army, Fulham, Derby, Reading, Middlesbrough,Birmingham and Hull. Been on a few of there forums having a read and the hysteria is a bit premature. Wolves fans as well getting a bit edgy over there striker wee wee tail up, Mendes gets bored and they dont go up then there in the poo never mind us going into administration :duntmatter:.

I didnt see us doing as well as we did last year, but Monk did a great job. That being said he was very defensive and the football was pretty dull, stay tight at the back and hope Chris Wood scores. Appreciate what he did but he wasnt as great a coach as the press made out imo and thats not sour grapes, we were hanging on quite a bit in games and obviously in the end ran out of steam.

Top 3 for me, Leeds, Fulham, Birmingham, think Arry did some great business yesterday. Fulham have probably the best manager in the division and got some decent players, Kalas, Ojo and Norwood as well as some unknowns plus kept the left back and Cairney. And top us, if not us then maybe Wolves

Bottom 3, Burton, Bolton and Millwall, hopefully with Millwall bottom.

Thanks for the detailed reply, i will do my Leeds bit in a while.

Transfer window wise i gave it an 8/10 on our forum.

Wiedwald- came in for criticism but telling for me that despite the amount of goals conceded for Werder Bremen last season the fans really rated him and were annoyed he was forced out, will be better then Green imo.
Anita- is a swiss army knife of a player and a class act, rated highly by his ex clubs fans which i like similar to Wiedwald.
Borthwick Jackson- has played well, good enough for Van Gaal whose no fool and from reading There forums they think hes good, and adds much needed height.
Klich- Not seen much of him in fairness but 8 goals 6 assists in a fairly competitive league plus wasnt he captain at Twente or did i dream that, if he was English he would have been 5-8mil.
Saiz- Wonderful little player, class act at this level and a bargain when Sam Clucas went for 16mil.
Alioski-Same as Saiz. (Thats a straight copy and paste im tired)lol

The big question for most people when talking about Leeds is can we replace Chris Wood. He had the season of his life last season, no doubt about that, but he was the focal point of every attack and that sometimes meant that we became predictable.

Theres much debate about Pierre-Michel Lassoga, am i convinced, absolutely not he has been poor for a few years. However there was a time not all that long ago when he was seriously seen as the future of German footballs attack and a possible replacement for Diego Costa at Athletico Madrid. Also all these Bundesliga stats dont do him full justice, the 34 goals in 130 odd games isnt correct. Taking minutes played into account he actually has 34goals in 83 games which is far more impressive. I doubt there are many Championship strikers past or present who could achieve that ratio playing for a relatively poor side. So on the striker front there is room for optimism.

In the centre of midfield we have a rejuvenated Kelvin Philips and Eunan O'Kane, O'Kane was largely ignored by Gary Monk but this season his calmness and experience next to the tenacity and energy of Phillips has been very impressive. Plus we kept Ronaldo Vieira who i really rate, at the same age Howson and Cook wernt as good. Klich hasnt had much game time yet through injury but for the reasons above i feel he could be a useful signing.

The 2 new players ahead of them Saiz and Alioski could potentially be bargains of the season. Combined the fee was £6mil roughly, the way they have started has been extremely encouraging. Those 2 players also take a lot of the pressure of Pablo Hernandez, at 32 he probably doesnt have the legs to play every week but last season if he wasnt in the team we looked very short of creativity and ideas, with us now able to rest him and bring in Dallas or Roofe or Cibicki it gives us options and a deeper squad. On Cibicki not to excited about him, but Ian Dennis has called him a superb buy from watching him at the u21s and a host of larger clubs were strongly linked with him this summer so who knows.

I would of liked to of seen us sign Jota, Alioski, Saiz and Jota would of been an amazing sight, had set my heart on Nelson Oliveira as Chris Woods replacement but that wasnt to be and i feel Lassoga on a 1 year loan is a sensible option, plus we have some talented if unproven back ups.

Major concern for me is central defence, we are blessed with the best cb in the division  (Pontus) imo. However, his partner last season was also one of the best cbs in the division in Kyle Bartley and they were an incredible partnership. Liam Cooper is an enigma, so far this season he has been every bit as good as Bartley, but he has never been consistent and thats a concern. If Pontus gets injured or suspended then it will be Mathew Pennington coming in (when fit again). He looked good against Bolton, and is highly regarded at Everton but he is inexperienced and at times struggled with Gary Madines bulldozer style. As a 4th option we have a young Irish lad who until TC came in was a midfielder. Did well when he played this season and is a big lad, but inexperienced as a player and a cb. Central defence is the worry because outside of Pontus we have the untested and the inconsistent, when Harlee Dean was available for £2mil and you have £15mil in the bank then you should get him imo.

The start to the season has been fantastic, pleasantly surprised by how well we have done. 2 home draws arent ideal but we had a goal disallowed against Fulham when it should of stood, but thems the breaks. Thomas Christiansen has so far been fantastic, the defence has been rock solid and the new goalkeeper hasn't really had a save to make yet. Against Sunderland and especially Notts Forest he got it spot on, high press, stop them playing out from the back and force them to go long. Sit back and soak up pressure then hit them on the break. The pressing against Forest was brilliant, getting your players to press and hassle for 90minutes without one player slipping up shows a great motivator and he has seemingly improved certain players in his short time here, Cooper and Phillips especially. The main difference between him and Monk is TC wants to attack, everything he does is to put Leeds on the front foot. Last season we had 2 holding midfielders, home and away, this season so far its obvious TC has instructed the 2 central midfielders to get forward when they can, getting in the box to support the attack or pressing the goalkeeper or in the Forest game stopping Bridcutt picking the ball up from the keeper.

Overall, delighted with our start if a little frustrated by the home draws. Pleased with the transfers if slightly concerned in certain areas.

Interesting to read your assessment and this update. I wasn't aware about a couple of your players, but they read well. I don't think Fulham will have as good a season this year, they were very average when we played them a couple of weeks ago. I think they may suffer the 2nd season blues and be found out a little, albeit they have a decent squad. The lad who scored for us at your place was Mattias. He's been injured for us almost all of the time we've had him. He came over from Portugal as someone with lots of potential and on the back of a really good season, but he's not particularly a 4-4-2 type player when played on the wing. Bit of an enigma, looks like he could be very very good, he appears to be fit now, but may not even make the bench.

I liked Winnall, but his first touch wasn't the best and he didn't have the skills of some of the other players, clearly Carlos had an issue with him and there's lots of debate whether Carlos has much say on our signings. He always seemed to do better here when brought on as a sub, he didn't have much of a chance overall though. I think he's better suited to a side who wants to attack at pace - not us I'm afraid.

As for Rhodes up top on his own, he seems too lightweight.  We spent a lot of money on him when I personally think we had other areas far more in need of a big spend. I would love him to do well, but  again I think Carlos wants something different from him to what he is good at.

As fir Foristieri, you could spend hours on the forum trying to work out what fans think of him. Personally, I think as a left winger he is superb, but as a striker I am less convinced and he doesn't work well with Hooper, who would be my first pick up top. Both come deep giving you no out ball. It seems that Carlos said he was going to play him LM this year, then a coup,e of weeks later we get a statement saying he wants to play as a striker because he hasn't got the energy to play wide and track back. For me, if he's not got the energy, then play him as a sub in that position and tell him he's not going to get a striker role. Then see if he has the "energy" to become a 1st pick again, which he should be.  As an aside, we have a guy not getting on the bench called Joao, who in a couple of matches has looked like he could play up top on his own, or as a two - and he adds something very different. He has height and pace and a couple of seasons ago when we beat Arsenal in the cup 3-0, he gave their defence (Mertesaker plus another who I can't recall) a torrid time. Think back to Wanchope for a bit of what he's like, however he's inconsistent at best and from being talked about 2 seasons ago as a Premiership bound player, he now looks almost destined for a lower division.  I'd love him to come good though and partner Hooper.

Our next few few games are really crucial, if we do well in the, don't write us off.

I cant wish you good luck, but it's good to see an informative posting from you.

The pre-season quotes from the team saying they were looking for top two is one of the reasons people are so angry with Carlos and the way things have started. It's the practically the same team playing the same football as last year... why is it going to work this time? The approach and/or the personnel had to change and neither has.

Exactly it's just an ageing team with one plan getting a year older.

Are you from Manchester seeing as the two clubs have an affinity, or is that just a one way thing.

Overall the usual mental approach to sloshing money around but hey... the fans pay for Sky TV etc so the money is there to spend for sure

As for the Championship I think it's been one of the busiest transfer windows and most definitely the most rumours I've seen in a long time

Now I wonder why that was  lol
