The Night-Owl
Freddy Adu is the Fred of the year. Ironic Fred gets taken seriously, instead of being ironically funny, it's ironically unfunny, which makes this Fred seriously funny.

Southie_Owl
Whilst we're suggesting old midfielders how about Phil Stamp? He was first class and spent a lot of time working on corners As long as he was on it he would never fail to deliver Think he's playing for a local pub side now, The Queen's Head. so he'd be a bargain, as these days you can't get much for the cost of a Stamp And so on

Holmowl
Rumour has it Craig Shakespeare is after him anyway. Seemingly wants him to partner Jordan Mutch. But only if he can get both in on a free. A local reporter asked the Leicester boss how much he would be willing to pay for the duo. Shakespeare said "Mutch, Adu? About Nothing!"

I think there are plenty of 'Whatever happened to Freddy Adu' stories, with the theme that he was only successful at 14/15 as he was actually 25. That doesn't make much sense as ability knows no age. It's more likely that he just had 'skillz' rather than a real interest in the game, and some very greedy owners and agents.
someone in my head
There must be 5000 professionals in the top leagues in Europe, are we going to have a thread for each one?

It is necessary because Carlos signing a new contract has created a 5000 thread void.
