Jordan Rhodes and Sheffield Wednesday - Latest

Recommended Posts

This afternoon's pre-Brentford press conference at Villa Park...........

Steve Bruce has hinted that Aston Villa's interest in Middesbrough's Jordan Rhodes is still alive.

But Bruce suggested Villa would not be held to ransom by Boro for the prolific Championship striker.

If Boro relax their asking price, which currently stands at around £10 million, Villa could get their man.

Villa could use some of the proceeds from Jordan Ayew's move to Swansea City to fund the deal for Rhodes.

Ayew is set to head to the Liberty Stadium with Villa getting left-back Neil Taylor and an undisclosed significant sum in return.

Bruce suggested Villa would not be increasing their bid of around £6m plus add-ons for Rhodes, who has fallen out of favour at Premier League Boro.

In all reality I think it comes across more like Karanka is sick of hearing about and talking about it. Rather than he doesn't care what happens.

The owners/board aren't going to give away a valuable asset on the cheap because the manager isn't happy. Doesn't work like that.

I think karanka is just being a greedy wan.... Ermm Yeah. But just get him sold already so we can put this whole escapade to an end.

Karanka doesn't fund the club, it's not his decision how much to accept.

CLEMENT CONFIRMS VILLA SWAP

Paul Clement has confirmed Swansea are close to signing Jordan Ayew from Aston Villa - with defender Neil Taylor going the other way. Clement admits that's likely to be the end of their business.

Villa won't be getting extra funds then.
