Steve Bruce has hinted that Aston Villa's interest in Middesbrough's Jordan Rhodes is still alive. But Bruce suggested Villa would not be held to ransom by Boro for the prolific Championship striker. If Boro relax their asking price, which currently stands at around £10 million, Villa could get their man. Villa could use some of the proceeds from Jordan Ayew's move to Swansea City to fund the deal for Rhodes. Ayew is set to head to the Liberty Stadium with Villa getting left-back Neil Taylor and an undisclosed significant sum in return. Bruce suggested Villa would not be increasing their bid of around £6m plus add-ons for Rhodes, who has fallen out of favour at Premier League Boro. Rather than he doesn't care what happens. The owners/board aren't going to give away a valuable asset on the cheap because the manager isn't happy. Doesn't work like that.
