BowOwl
As above! What about nicknames though? I do love The Owls. Spurs & The Hammers are decent. But can't deny loving Fleetwoods 'The Cod Army'
PeteG_1984
Completely agree with the OP. I'd also add that it just sounds great when commentators or journalists say it. Maybe I'm biased but there's just something about it that makes them take it up a level on the first syllable of Wednesday
AlbertOB
Our name is just so different to other football clubs. It's cool, mysterious, and I quite often get asked by other fans (I live in London) how we got our name. I just love our name. Sheffield?
Flat Owl
From a traditional and corporate point of view, it is a name that has been under utilized as an asset for so many years. It's instantly recognizable and immediately sets us apart from the usual Utd's, City's, Towns, Rovers, Wanderers etc. On the flip side, Hillsborough & Leppings Lane have been a ball and chain for the last quarter century. darra
There's apparently an ice hockey team in Canada(?) who have Wednesday in their name. Story I heard was they'd heard about us and thought the name was so cool they copied us.

Tamworthowl
Port Vale. Not only unique, but no indication in the name to tell you where they play either.
