Matchday prices for 2015/2016 season - Official

Recommended Posts

Because FO the prices were daft last season and the football was pants, most the people who would be into that wouldn't even know it was happening.

Now what's happened is our average fan has just got a semi on for swfc and chansiri has just pushed a picture of meggane trainor in their face and killed it dead.

The amount of fans who will just see the opening day prices and press snooze is the problem, a lot more than it would have in previous times.

I know a lot moan and don't go but like me they will have decided to go on many occasions left thinking I cannot believe I just spent 30 quid on that, it's akin to leaving a casino after a bad run.

The price has come before any suggestion that we will be a top 6 team and we have the number 1 prices by over 20%.

Not fully understanding this 'working men being priced out' - as if those who can afford it are loaded?

I consider myself and my family to be working class. I'm at uni, my parents work in a factory and a call centre & have my 12 year old brother to pay for.

Some people are worse off, I get that.

But don't divide fans into class systems just because you can't afford it.

No Cpt_Hatstand, I pay for my own ST.

It's not about that imo.

It's the sheer volume of things you can do with 44 quid.

Not being funny but mad max in IMAX was worth 5 of our most recent home games minimum.

I may be shallow and lack that wtid mentality perhaps, but I am a floating voter still and my outlook is valuable.

I will say this though, IF I am wrong about the cats and we have plenty at e I'll say sorry but I do not see it happening.

There is the factor you see of the blokes who have a principle cut off point and it's finally been met.

Additionally the poor sods who would love to pay 30 quid to go, into a stadium with 20k empty seats for the first game.

Additionally the lost chance to get 28k in the gates for the first game with a new team pitch and score board and get them in for the rest of the season.

The average sheffield lad will go online in about 3 weeks, look at the price and say not for me.

Still a bit stunned at the possible cost of some matches, however £39 on the Kop for the Bristol City game sets a president for future games i would have thought. If you are single or only you goes then the new prices may be more palatable but if you are taking a family then god help you. I know families that used to go quite regular but stopped because of last seasons prices, with the new pricing structure they along with many others have no chance now. When the austerity measures kicked in it was £17 for an adult on the Kop,

I feel lucky that me and the missus bought early bird season tickets but sitting in an even emptier, quieter Hillsborough really doesn't appeal.

I think we as Wednesday fans have had it too cheap for too long. It's without doubt a welcome to the real world of modern football slap in the face for many fans.

There are almost two arguments to be had. Is football too expensive in general? Yes, absolutely, however I think we have just moved in line with many other clubs.

Equally, as mentioned in another thread, it could well be a view from the club of short term pain for longer term gain, in so far as these prices may shock and encourage people to opt for phase 1 season tickets next season, which if so, is a good move for the long term.

Whilst it is expensive, many of our fans love to moan and will look for any excuse not to go, which is a shame given this new era. You only have to look at the cheap ticket games, Hillsborough is hardly full in those games.

I appreciate not everyone can afford to go, but there are many that can but don't and they are often the ones to complain/look for excuses. I have a few friends who are like that.

Trouble with that is when you look at the price of the other championship opening matches we're way off the mark, modern day football appears to be much cheaper for the other teams.

Fans of other clubs seem to disagree chris? Especially with the second most expensive opening champ game (brighton) being 7 quid cheaper. Doesnt seem very inline.

Im telling you now it wont be cat b every game BUT if it is people will still go, following your club is an addiction men make sure they go on holidays through the preseason some even go on holiday to were ever the club is touring

Its the initial reaction from fans thats all they will be looking at how they will finance going and still end up watching us.

Obviously some wont go but wont be a massive amount

May have already been mentioned but haven't Bradford just sold 17,000 season tickets at £170 odd? Yes it's L1 etc but going to be a great home atmosphere for them. Our crowds will do well to exceed 20,000 next season, more likely 16k.

If you think a person decides their football team on ticket price your very much wrong my friend. No one is going to watch the piggies just cos its cheaper!!

Question, Would we be happy with these prices if we were in the Prem league?

Guest Big Hoot

People are moaning, and most have every right to moan.

But one of the last games on offer last season was Fulham at home. Kids for a quid.

We brought in a measly 22k that game. So it's testicles that if you price tickets right 'the working class of Sheffield will go regardless'. A lot of people getting all uppity about not being able to have a family day out with the kids now...where were you when tickets were cheap. Bar the Reading game (and that's only because we'd had a good start) offers for games rarely inspire people to go. Big games inspire people to go. They find the money somehow...

Mansfield tickets in the cup are £12 adults and £6 concessions. I'm expecting a sell out now a lot of people are saying they want 'cheap tickets' and that 'it's not about the football on show...I love my club....I don't pay to watch the other team'.

Regardless of what people think of the prices, a lot of fans have now been priced out.

Attendances will drop sharply.

Can you imagine Brighton at home on a Tuesday night if we are both mid table and ticket price is £30+

be lucky to get 15k there!

I don't think that's true, we've gone way past the line. I'm guessing here but i presume the price in tickets makes us one of the most expensive teams to watch in the division and also more expensive than some Premiership tickets - If we look at the 'cheapest' tickets that clubs offer for home fans.

They need to reduce the Bristol City game category D to have any hope of a decent crowd on the first game of the season, otherwise it is going to be  poor.

Why start off in a manner that is going to alienate a great number of supporters?

I am coming down from Scotland for the game and have already booked a non-refundable hotel, had I not booked the hotel I wouldn't be coming at those prices.

I am still baffled why they thought this was a good idea.

IF the prices were a bit cheaper, more would come, more would buy food, drink, programmes, merchandise etc, would the revenue generated be that different?

I know the attendance and would be better, the atmosphere and the feeling that we were all a part of something exciting.
