'This years surprise package'

Recommended Posts

I've said this before but I'd sooner us stay down, and challenge consistently for promotion while building a team capable of staying up in the Premier League.

No point going up just to come straight back down.

Do you not think that if we somehow got promoted this season it wouldn't our the club as a whole in a way stronger position for the next 5-6 years minimum? (If the extra revenue is managed correctly)- even if we were immediately relegated? Edited by RUMBELOWS91

I'm happy to admit I haven't thought this particular theory through.

The parachute payments would make it worthwhile alone.

Our situation reminds me of Burnley last season.

They barely had a pot to wee wee in.

They had a very small squad. They only had three strikers all season. Ings, Vokes and Noble till January and then Ings, Vokes and Barnes from then onward.

Ings and Vokes weren't predicted to pull up any trees.

Their squad was underestimated. One of the favourites to go down. But with hard work and a tight knit team they finished second.

I am not saying that we will finish second, but....I'm very optimistic.

Burnley had £12 million a year parachute payments

sorry I'll bore off again lol

Spent bugger all last season though because a lot of money has been used to pay offf debts

Struggled big time when Ings and Vokes got injured because they only had Barnes as their other striker.

Like I said, small tight knit squad.

Don't be daft lad. 100 million reasons to go up!!! We can go up take the money buy some decent players and even if we do go down we can then mount another challenge the following year and we'd have parachute payments this time.

It's been too long since we mixed it with the big boys so i'd take promotion. Not that it matters as we aint strong enough at the moment to maintain a sustained challenge.
