grlj
I am only passing on what was told to us on the tour. The pitch edges have been marked out. It's been done so that we can have more players close together in the box.
mrgund
When they ask you on football manager to change the dimensions, maybe it is like that and the option came up and they clicked it but not sure why? At all.

Guest Deleted member
How good was that investment in sponsoring the West Stand? The advert lasted longer than the company
sharrowowl
This may have been discussed on here before if it has please delete. I attended a wedding reception at the ground yesterday which included a tour. The Pitch width has been shortened by about 3 to 4 foot either side. Maybe they are astroturfing either side - would make sense as both bits end up a quagmire by November.
VictoryBell
Big Ron narrowed the pitch, I recall. That worked out OK.

fife_owl
In the late seventies, early eighties I recollect that the biggest pitches in the league were ours and Leyton Orient.

dan27
So judging by this thread so far, nobody has a clue who did what to the pitch.

OhForAnotherShez
Our pitch size, unless changed by a manager at the start of a season was always 115x75yds. I am also led to believe that you can't change it's size during a season to suit.
VictoryBell
Our pitch size, unless changed by a manager at the start of a season was always 115x75yds. I am also led to believe that you can't change it's size during a season to suit. If you did it at night, nobody would know. Also, I always thought Doncaster's pitch was the biggest, too (max size, I believe) but that was Bellevue. darklord
I think we are having a 5 a side pitch right the middle with the size of the current squad its not a bad idea
chrischapeltownowl
They made the six yard line the width one season so Potter could nearly get a corner into the area. He nearly managed one as well.
shandypants
Widening the pitch doesn't automatically mean that its been done to accommodate two "footballing" wingers. It could equally be widened to allow two "speed merchants" to have the space to run into. We've had speed merchants for a couple of years now and the football hasn't necessarily been that pretty. Narrowing the pitch may allow more "football" to be played without leaving the central midfielders exposed.
