Players we have let go, this season or last

I've no promble at all with that reasoning, but Simek was out of contract and I don't think he will be on anything like the wedge he was on now he's at Carlisle, for me, all we had to do was offer him what Carlisle offered.

He looked sh*te when he came back from his injury and i think we (wrongly in the end) had bigger ambitions, when he went to carlisle I felt sad for him, I thought we were above all that, how flipping wrong :Dark Sad:

None really, although big Leon does have a League One track record that would place him above many.

By the way Simek didn't last the season, Carlisle fans were slagging him off for months of poor form and fitness when last I checked. Sean McAllister wasn't getting in the starting eleven of a league two team.

Simek is the only remotely justifiable one to me, but on the whole I think they were all right to be released, which is a surprise.

Miller would be good enough to get into out matchday 18 (when fit, which wasn't often), but if his wages stopped us from being able to bring in someone who's good enough to start every game I can understand him being let go.

Miller

Potter

Heffernan

Spurr (likely)

Esajas

Simek

Clarke

Macallister

Jeffers (i know)

Any regrets from these? Simek and Miller for me. Simek would have come good for us, and Miller had another season left in him.

What do you think?

Esajas - Bit of extra pace and width

Simek - Come good

Clarke - Not a bad player especially in league 1

According to the Carlisle OS Simek made 50 Appearances last season.

Esajas- set pieces, deliveries and that bit extra.. when he was fit he would do the business- tore cardiff apart twice in our champ relegation season.. would sedgwick or teale have done that? no chance

micky gray was so composed on the ball. one of the few during a season of some headless chickens

Ettienne Esajas - still think he's got everything to be a quality footballer, how we could have done with a set piece specialist and a left winger this season.

I also never got to see Esajas with a good run of games, shame really, i feel he really could have smashed this league, rather than have 4 central midfielders we could have

done with some width especially when JJ was out.

This this this... had a run of 2 whole games during relegation season... nearly grabbed us something against pigs and then tore a play off side in Cardiff apart.. got taken out early on away at palace and that was that.. came back, took us back into cardiff again, then isn't given a start.

oh well. rather the "consistency" that many of us called for.. shame it came in the shape of Sedgwick and Teale I

Semi and Buxton were both solid at right back but they just got injured. Its unlucky, but I don't think we'd have missed Simek had they not been injured.

Simek pre-injury was a really bullish right back but something didn't seem right on his return for me. Perhaps we couldve persisted but I don't know the finance involved.

Not sure - If your club offers you half the wage you were on, having hardly played you for a quarter of a season (or whatever it was) would you take it? Or would you say 'sod this' and go and start afresh somewhere else, even if the offer was slightly poorer?

If it was me I would go with the latter. Sometimes things just don't work out - The end of Frankie's contract was one of those times. Not that I have any affection for the old regime, but what we did in this situation made sense and you can see how it all panned out.

So you're saying that if you were Simek, you would choose Carlisle over Wednesday. I know compared to what we used to be, we are poo , and we've been poo for a long time, but I would still expect us to have more pulling power than Carlisle, and I think if Simek had the chance to stay, he would have, even if it was a much lower deal than he had previously.

I can understand anyone saying it was too big a gamble to keep him because of past injuries, but if it comes to a straight fight between us and Carlisle, I would expect us to win every time.

Just a bloke, who used up all his luck in one go when he met his wife.
