A perfect run

Recommended Posts

Think it puts to bed any of the rumours about why he was left out after Boro to be honest. He was everywhere yesterday, intercepting crosses on the back post and doing the defensive work then popping up with crosses and a goal, was an exemplary performance on how to play as a wing back. Him and Pol are immense in this system and anyone questioning his attitude and desire probably feel a bit daft after yesterday

He’s an enigma , isn’t he ?

Theres days you want to slap him cos he looks like he can’t be a***d and other days he shows sheer brilliance like that .

No matter where he was on the pitch yesterday he was outstanding .

No wonder fans ..and managers get frustrated by him

Highlights why we sometimes get smashed under Röhl looking at the space marv leaves behind. Good to watch though

Yeah he was nowhere to been seen for there goal....only needs a move to break down with him going forward and he's  stuffed if no one is covering .

perfect really

The finish aswell, most players would’ve gone for the near post where the keeper was diving and hope they put enough power on it to find the net before the keeper got there.

To send it back over a diving keeper across goal was clever.

There in lies the weakness in 5 at the back. If the wingbacks are up field and the team is caught on a break, the fullback positions are vulnerable.

There should be cover though surely

I would rather play this risk versus reward football than the stodgy fare we've had before

Assuming Johnson hasn't been instructed to stop making runs like he did yesterday for the goal (I'd expect he's actually encouraged to, same goes with Pol), then it's the team's responsibility to drop in and cover his position while he's attacking. He can't be blamed for not being in two places at once.

He can be inconsistent, but Johnson is also a potential match-winner, capable of turning a game in our favour with a tremendous run, shot, or cross.

We don't have loads of them in our squad, which made the stick he got from some a few weeks ago utterly baffling.

This is why I always cut Musaba some slack when others slate him. 9/10 times he'll lose the ball or run into trouble but he always has that one good pass in him like he did.

10 goals contributions in his first season in English football isn't too bad of a return too

Was a team effort that. They all switched off not just him.

He also made a fantastic overhead clearance too in the later stages.

I dont think he switched  off and dont blame him for the goal .what I'm saying is if you play with wing  backs and there forward then if we suddenly lose possession  and  no ones covering  theres going to be a  gaping gap down the side  and that shouldn't happen if everyone does ther job .
