Going from match 21, we need to pick up a point to safety every 3rd game.  Yesterday we picked up a 5 game swing, so if we are still at a 6point gap at game 27 we're still on target. UTO.

It would also help if Shoemaker leaves Plemmouth, and Moore stays at 'Udders.

 

But Chansiri will decide it by his recruitment.

 

We need the kind of quality he brought in when he first arrived.

Just think of the 50 point mark. If we can get to 20 ish by the halfway point then on current form 30ish should be doable?

Also, factor in that on Wednesday night QPR failed to score against Plymouth who had a player sent off after 25 minutes and us scoring two late goals their confidence must be rock bottom. They play Southampton next.  Huddersfield play Norwich and Rotherham Leicester next.

I think he is full of shiite and the promise of a striker is just a promise. I will be happy to be proved wrong, actually I would be ecstatic if I was wrong and Röhl was able to bring some help in.

There is only one game until the halfway mark so 19 pts is the maximum we can achieve. 

 

On the data of the last 20 years the average points total to absolute safety is 45 and on that basis we would require 29pts from the final 24 games.

 

P24: W8, D5, L11

 

So not impossible at all.

 

However 45 points would see you relegated in half of those years.

One factor that sees the points to safety rises significantly is those years when there is a particularly badly performed team that achieves less than 30pts for the season. That was Rotherham in 16/17 (23 points) and 04/05 (29pts)  and they could be on a similar pathway this season.  The 2012/2013 season is an outlier with Peterborough winning 15 games and achieving 54pts and still being relegated.

I'd be very surprised if we got a striker in this window. Strikers are a rare find in any window, especially this one and if they are available come at a price. Any available are usually coming towards the end of their career or at the beginning. I'll be happy to be proven wrong of course. Röhl might find one in Germany ?

Home games will be crucial. Another must win for me next Saturday, but the team spirit and belief is back big time.

If we beat Cardiff and Hudders lose again then it no longer becomes improbable and changes to a normal season in which we just happen to be in the bottom 3.

 

Difference being that we will have made up 10 points in a month with confidence behind us.
