European Football 2021-22

Can’t see a thread for this season on UEFA competitions so thought it would be worth starting one if only to ask - is Sheriff winning at the Bernabeu the biggest upset in the history of the champions league? At least in terms of a single game?

Also very entertaining that Club Brugge are top of the group containing Citeh, PSG and RB Leipzig.

Could be.

Never heard of them - and I know of some random teams.

The Real team in comparison was unbelievable

Juve / Chelsea tonight.

See if Chelsea can bounce back from being well beaten by City.

Lukaku will know all about Juve from last season

Bit of a surprise defeat for Chelsea that one, Juve have started the season slowly.

Barcelona crumbling, they might be better off finishing 3rd as going for the Europa League as they have no chance of making a mark in the Champions League.

Man Utd were giving the runaround for an hour and more tonight. They have the top quality players to get them out of trouble with moments but can't help but think they should be more cohesive and convincing.

Anyone see the incidents unfold at Sparta Prague v Rangers?

Sparta fans banned for racism in their last game against Monaco.

Sparta give tickets to 10,000 school kids instead.

Maby of these school kids boo Glenn Kamara (black Finnish player) all game. Glenn Kamara himself was thr player that was subjected to racist abuse the last time he was in Prague when Rangers faced Slavia Prague.

Despite that. Schoolkids of the rival Prague team boo him.

Utterly unbelievable and worrying. flipping disgusting really. Kids shoulf be ashamed.

A few ex Owls in action tonight:

Andre Green scored for Slovan Bratislava against PAOK as they drew 1-1

Shaw and Urhoghide watched Celtic get battered 4-0 at home by Leverkusen from the subs bench

Antonio set a goal up for West Ham in their 2-0 win against Rapid Vienna

Ben Sahar came off the bench for Maccabi Haifa in a 3-0 defeat against Union Berlin

how infuriating are PSG though? They will never win a champs league like this, they can get away with defending with 7 players in the league because of how poor the standard is, but when they're playing against rubbish week in week out they have zero preparation for playing against elite sides. Defending with a back 4 and midfield 3 will  never ever work in the champs league against the likes of City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Bayern. The front 3 are arguably the top 5  players in world football but just can't gel at all. At Barce it was all for Messi, the rest of the team worked like dogs to cover for his laid back style but when Neymar and Mbappe are doing the same they will come unstuck in this tournament, 3 players standing on the half way line against elite teams is asking for a hammering and they were lucky that it wasn't 5. Idrissa Gueye and Herrera wouldn't get in the top 4 of the prem no way, Herrera was average at United. Is Potch the answer for United? Worrying when a team like that looks so for off City
