Popular Post 31Dec1966
Here are 3 photos I took with a Kodak Instamatic on October 2nd 1971 at the Fulham game. The top one is of me (in the blue jumper) with my mate Spanner and Wednesday midfielder Graham Pugh who had just got out of his car (behind us). The one on the right is me and Spanner wearing our new silk scarves as the teams warmed up. The last one is Spanner proudly displaying his scarf as the teams ran out. Everyone has a camera at games now but it was unusual in those days and film was expensive! You never know who is on Owlstalk, such is it's popularity, so, just in case, the lad to the right of Spanner and his scarf (!) is Mick Wilson who was from Pilsley. Spanners name was (and I hope still is) John Spencer who lived in Newton. Spanner and me were mad Wednesday fans but we lost touch and I think he bought a house overlooking the ground. Graham Pugh played that day and we won 4-0. 25

Bearwood Owl1
I love these. It's interesting to see the section under where the score board is now with fans in it. Not sure I've ever seen that before.

Popular Post Rossendale Owl
This brings back memories! It was the first Wednesday game I ever saw, actually the first 'proper' football game. I'd just arrived at the Uni, the game was during intro week and the club had put up a block of free tickets in the North Stand (near the Kop End). I'd just met a lad from Sunderland (subsequently went to loads of Sun'lan' away games with him, including the 73 Cup Final) he persuaded me to come with him, he knew the way to the ground from the city centre so we got the bus from Broomhill to the Midland Station and walked from there. As I said, it was my first proper game (home town team was in the old Northern Premier League), so I was absolutely gobsmacked by Hillsborough. I'm still best mates with Jim, was best man at his wedding and for my sins, even though I don't live in Sheffield I have a season ticket in the South Stand. You could say the hook went in that day, once an Owl...... Thanks for posting, happy days, I needed cheering up.

OhForAnotherShez
North stand looks a bit under populated. I had to check the game had already started! 14,955 turned up.
