Their social media reach is virtually nil

A good idea doesn't make a good business.

Having worthy opinions won't make this work.

A decent marketing strategy might.

Otherwise its just a few people spouting off in a room.

For their to be a strategy their has to be.an objective does anybody know what the organisers want to achieve?

( btw who are the organisers)

In my mind a token seat on the board and a nominal shareholding will achieve very little. Mr Chansari owns the club sadly  he can do with it as he pleases.

Fairly amazing for this meeting to go ahead.

There is after all no rush!

The first big decision by this fans group is to congregate what will no doubt be elderly fans into a warm sweaty pub.

These meetings attract the older generations of fans rather than the young uns that’s for sure

Average age is usually 65/70 years old

Its a waste of time imo, even if you get invited to speak with the chairman the trust will be told to keep it confidential, and that will be the end of that.

Its his club to do with what ever he wants.

Its just football, worry about something else.

As I write this the new Owls Trust will meet fans at Crookes Working Men’s Club this Monday night to put together a board, rules, appoint directors etc and have an initial talk about what’s needed, aims and objectives etc.

They hope to open dialogue with the chairman as a representative of you and I.

They will be aligned to the FSA (football supporters association) who pushes its members to own shares in the club and a place on the SWFC board.

so....

Are you for or against this idea/group?

Do we need this group right now?

Will the chairman acknowledge the group and really listen to them or will he view it as an annoyance and ignore it?

Is the shares/place on the board aspect a winner?

What did we learn from the old Owls Trust, Wednesdayite or even WISA (one of WISA’s directors is behind this new group)

Will fans accept this group as their representative?

The new group doesn’t have existing channels of communication to the fanbase so how will it successfully reach ALL fans with their news/updates/reports from each meeting with the chairman?

If shares/place on the board is a key goal for the group will Chansiri accept and welcome this?

Will you be going tomorrow night and are you getting involved?

Is Ken Bates the main speaker?.

Could this new group be different though?

Is there anything it could do differently from previous Owls Trust or WISA etc that means it could succeed or is it destined to follow the exact same path to oblivion and hate from the general fanbase?

What could it do differently to change your viewpoint?

Only if, and it's a big if, the group can come up with some one GENUINELY interested in buying the club with the money independently confirmed by a reputable accountancy/ Bank firm in place.

How do they plan on getting younger fans involved?

Supporters clubs have a reputation of being old men in WMCs.

Very good question

Younger fans tend to be very anti/apathetic towards fans groups

Younger fans just want beer, pie, and to stand up watching their footy. Not much else holds value to them. (nothing at all wrong with that)

Fans groups attract the elderly, older fans, and the pro-union types who like to rant in a WMC whilst having beer and telling everyone there about how long they've supported the club

Exactly

Maybe they could play on your point about booze. Make it social, events aimed around booze, FIFA tournaments etc... The goal would be to get them bought in as a member despite not caring about the politics (yet).

Issue with that is that the fans group is a political one.

Wednesdayite offer travel/coaches and carparking

The new Owls Trust will be the political one

There's no real fan/supporters group for just supporting the club and getting together in a non-political way other than what Wednesdayite offers

There's the SWFC Community team which does the most amazing work but their resources are limited

I know. There's loads of small issues to get right.

Nothing to say it can't be political and 'just for supporting' though.

I hope this works. What I think will happen is that it will be the same people as ever, the same demographic and ultimately will fail because big that.

To make it work they need some marketing and e-comm guru involved.

This new Owls Trust will be extremely political from day one

It's affiliation with the FSA (football supporters assocation) means that it will strive for shares in the club, a fan on the SWFC board etc

Make no mistake, there's no way this group won't be political.
