Sims got five starts for Reading last season.
In 17 matches he got no goals and three assists.

Moved to USA and got one assist in seven games.

Southampton took him and he got one assist in seven games.

Its an odd one, unless Monk saw something special in his time at Southampton.

Like i said in the other thread, hope he turns out better than the last loanee from Saints.

Signing on loan until the end of the season apparently

Was at Reading first half of last season then New York Redbulls until October last year. Been back playing for Southampton U23's since.

Winger, pacey skillful, Reading and Southampton fans speak highly, hopefully we get him in for Saturday

It's strikers we desperately need, not more wingers

Guru will be unhappy.

Damn right, how many friggin wingers do we need? We always seem to go for wingers that have no idea where the goal is If we are to play the system we used on Saturday, we need to be looking at double figures from our wide player

Cant argue with that.

If we play 433 we need more goals from wide and midfield.

League Goals

Bannan 1 pen

Hutch 1

Lee 0

Luongo 2

Reach 1

Murphy 3

Harris 3

Or we have to sign a 30 goal centre forward, it’s crazy

In a 4-3-3 the wingers are very important in implementing a high press, they should often be the ones to begin the  press on the opposition full backs, which should prompt the rest of the midfield to press.

Although this is obviously tiring for the wide players, especially as they have to be getting behind the opposition in attack, then sometimes recover and help the full backs out back in the defensive third.

May be part of the reason for getting more wingers in, allowing us to rotate the wingers and be a bit more active in winning the ball higher up the field.

It's a great way to create attacking opportunities and box the opposites in.

Taylor Boyd is another winger...

Maybe Monk has given up os our strikers and going to play 4 wingers every game?

Alf Ramsey - Wingless Wonders

Garry Monk - Strikerless Stutterers

maybe he is going to add pace down the middle off the central striker by throwing a wingman (with pace) into the mix.

how old is he?, i'll swear he was playing when I was at school.

he is only 28 and has over 240 appearances in the championship, not played since leaving Norwich in the summer though - probably upset they didn't sign Rhodes.
