Paul Triplo
The goals conceded stat is key. And the defence should only get better the more games they play together. If you don’t concede you don’t lose.

If we recently beat a team who say for example are 19th, but finish 8th, are they still a weaker team? 5 hours ago, FreshOwl said: The league hasn’t taken shape yet, so to call a team ‘weak’ is stupid. The league table is all we have to go on. That means the ones at the bottom are weaker than the ones at the top over the first 11 games

In or around top 6 until Xmas bodes well.

SiJ
You can only beat what is in front of you. Particularly at the start of the Championship, there are very few gimmes and nailed on results. It is a very difficult division to predict and usually only settles down after about 10 to 15 games. We've suffered four defeats so far and the only two I'd consider to be really poor results (not that defeat is ever good) would be the QPR game and to a lesser extent Hull. QPR because we were utterly wretched and Hull because we should have kicked on after giving Boro a thumping. Losing to Millwall away isn't exactly uncommon (Leeds just lost there) and Deepdale is always a difficult place to go. Plus, Preston have been excellent so far and were pretty lucky to pick up a 2-1 win against us. There are sterner tests to come, but I think we all should be pretty content with the start we've made. Yes we’ve had a relatively easy set of opponents, but we’ve also played six aways and five homes. Great start. The games we historically drop a lot of point against

I'm not sure we can read too much into this, other than we've given ourselves a chance with a decent start. We were in the top six at the October international break this time last year though, and we all know how that turned out...

Cardiff, Stoke, Leeds, Blackburn, Swansea and WBA are our next six games. We've got away games at notoriously difficult places, and home games against some of the best performing sides in the division (expect Stoke to kick on after their victory at the weekend). If we maintain our current projections after those set of games, then we will not only be in a fantastic position in the table, but we'll have a very good case for been a genuine promotion candidate this season. At this point, the bare statistics are good. Even the most negative of Wednesday fan cannot argue that...but there's also no getting away from the fact, that we've played the majority of the dregs of the division. But, if we come out of the next six games relatively unscathed...10 points would be a creditable haul...then confidence and momentum could start to generate some real positivity within the club. That run of fixtures will be a real test. Bring it on!
