Odd comparison with Abdi. Mattias has been here 12 months longer than Abdi but only managed 12 more games.

Both have been very poor signings in my opinion and I don’t get fooled by the odd goal now and again.

Matias has been available for selection a whole lot more , old coco never selected him . Matias is scoring goals and playing well why abdi is doing jack like he has since the day he signed . One is a waste of a wage the other scored a cracking goals to make it three for the season

I don’t see Matias losing his place very soon.

From a Jos perspective today must have been a near perfect performance from Matias.

He worked back into midfield, out wide and supported Fletcher.

He is probably the quickest player we have so can make runs behind and given the opportunity can finish.

Was he actually injured or just not picked?

Said in his interview after the game that he has been injured for the best part of 2 years with us.

Talented but lightweight, however he can get behind the last defender as he has pace. That's important to the shape we are playing.

Other players who can do this.....

People have been crying out for months and months and months about the lack of pace in the side - now they have some they still aren't happy!!

Think it's time to give some credit, this is a man who's suffered horrendous injury problems over the past 2 years, been written off on here and by a lot of supporters, but has come back this season and has 100% earned the shirt. We've all known he's got talent but for other reasons never had the chance to show it, now he's in the team, joint top scorer, running his blood to water every week and constantly looking to get in behind the opposition defence. I think he actually didn't play as well as he can today, some bad decision making but he ran his b0llocks off and took his goal very well. His record in the Portuguese top flight was incredible, such a shame we've not had him over the last few years.

Absolutely and the most credit needs to go to Jos for yet again pulling a player out of the doldrums and giving him the belief and opportunity

The visitors were ahead when Marco Da Silva fired low and hard into the bottom from the edge of the penalty area, but four minutes later McGinn opened his claret-and-blue account in spectacular fashion.

:Pelupessy:

Da Silva was sat in the stand in his baggy shorts with his Polish Girlfriend....

Always said there was talent and ability there. Still that matter if consistency to deal with.

Think I mentioned pre season Sod’s law would dictate he has a good season and we lose him for nowt lol

In all seriousness he still can improve his all round game, but he feels like a bonus signing  this year. Also says if he plays well it’ll be tough come contract renewal time:

Matias cost about 1.8M pounds which is peanuts, if he plays all season and stays fit he's instantly paid off the investment. You seem a hard man to please, I hope he changes your mind by May.

it depends how successful he is …..for the outlay plus his wages it hasn't been the best of deals for the club ...if does play say 30 games and scores 8-10 goals is that enough to give a him a  new contract coz if we don't then he goes for free and that's a fair chunk of money to pay for so few goals over 4 years.

His time heres been blighted by injury after injury, but hes comeback well this season, hes working hard for the team and looks very effective.

Has he done enough to earn an extension........im not sure,il reserve judgement,he certainly has ability and lots of it,but wel soon have the likes of Hooper & Winnall returning, for now the shirts his by right but hel be pushed for it in the comming weeks.

probably another 2 million over 4 years for his wages ...so your looking around 4 million with agent fees for not a lot of return …...if we don't offer him a contract then we get nothing back......

Has nothing to show for what should have been his prime years. Shame really. Be interesting to see if he can maintain form and fitness this season. Deserves some luck.

Not interested in his bank balance. I'm sure he is, but I still believe success on the pitch is more important for most.

Still peanuts, 10M signings will get another 6M in wages and bonuses, football has changed, 3M for Reach up front we had Boro's pants down.

you buy  enough peanuts and you end up with a transfer embargo …..he's not been value for money.

If he can stay fit we’ve got a good player.

bear in mind he’s hardly kicked a ball since we signed him - he’s doing well and scoring goals.

i think he’s only going to get better.
