Nuhiu

Recommended Posts

Incidentally, Atdhe won his 3rd cap for Kosovo yesterday

... coming on as sub in the 80th minute with Croatia leading 1-0

Haven't seen any match reports but I'm willing to bet a) he didn't look out of place against international opposition and

                                                                                   b) he'd have given those Croatian defenders a problem or two

He's a better player than given credit for on here, and probably the best forward player we have at playing with his back to goal. Problem is that he doesn't offer much of a goal threat admittedly.

Arguably the best football we played under Carlos' tenure was when he was in the XI, acting as a pivot for Hooper and Forestieri (from the left). He wasn't scoring many, but the team as a whole were creating and scoring lots.

Weird thing is, the less involved he is with the team, the more of a scapegoat he seems to become? He's barely been involved this year yet the vitriol thrown at him seems to get weirdly louder.

Bang on, the guys barely played any football this season and he gets more abuse than he has ever had before. The simpletons are using his inclusion on the bench as another stick to beat the club and Carlos with, almost as embarrassing as the full grown blokes kicking off because they can't buy a football shirt yet.

Nuhiu is an easy target for the haters. Slag him off and you know plenty of people will jump on the bandwagon.

I like him as a person (what I know of him), he always gives 100% on the pitch, he's got good feet and skill on the ground but I accept his goalscoring record is rubbish.  I can see both sides of the argument but the venom shown by the haters leaves me cold.

When we signed Hooper, we tried him with Fernando and Joao. Didn't really pan out -

Somehwhat surprisingly it was Nuhiu who ended up being the player that brought the best from Hooper, whilst never being any form of goal threat himself.

Like it or not  Hooper enjoyed his best spell since his arrival with Nuhiu in his first season. I was a little surprised we went back to an FF/Hooper front pair against Hull in the final. Their big centre halves ate them up.

I would suggest this was in mind when we signed Fletcher.  The next model up.

Thats more or less my take on it as well,FF and Hooper both benefited from his inclusion that season, and as you rightly say I saw Fletch as an upgrade, more mobile.Alas FF just seems to be off the boil in much of the games for long periods, but is this down to all the cards he got?

Agree, Forestieri should never play as a striker again in my opinion he's wasted there.

I don't mind Nuhiu as a bloke but league 1 player really.

Only reason he has probably not gone to someone like Bristol Rovers or Doncaster is that they can nowhere near match wages he is on at Wednesday.

you think nuhiu is league 1 level? I must disagree ,when we have played cup games again league 1 and 2 sides over last 3 years he struggled , if he ever ended up in league 1 I'm pretty certain he wouldn't get 10 goals in a season.

You didn't see the open net he missed against Bolton then. Or the other countless opportunities he's wasted since he last found the net.

Like the bloke and will never knock him but crikey, the guy must have the Carlsberg Agent to have landed 4 years at SWFC on a decent whack.

Yes I did and it was woeful

For me he should be the first striker on the team sheet, it's a fact we score more goals when he's in the team and think he'd be brilliant with Hooper/Rhodes.

Never.

The only place for him is off the bench for last 10 minutes if we are already winning.

I recognise his strenghts but should never be first striker on the team sheet.

no he isnt a better player than people think he is awful..reminds me of Colin West back in the dark days.he would not get anywhere near our opponents first teams

hence the lack of interest from anybody

anybody who keeps banging the Nuhui drum after we let Winnall go is kidding themself

we could'nt give him away, for obvious reasons

This is a classic example of how the Nuhui bashing sometimes seen here is so at odds with reality.

Winnall is obviously irrelevant in this context.  That we have loaned out Winnall (only loaned, mind you) and retained Nuhui tells us nothing new.  Winnall is a very different category of signing.  We paid a fee, and a high wage, in the course of a well funded promotion campaign,  Nuhui was on a free, bought at a time when the purse strings were tight, and the wages we were paying were some of the lowest in this league.

It is obviously true that Nuhui doesn't have the market value to allow us to acquire a player like Butterfield.  Equally, we know that while CC rates Nuhui to an extent, it's not to a great extent: he is seldom, verging to never, a starter.

There is reason at all to suppose that we "could'nt" (sic) give him away.  I would be amazed if we tried to do so, and somewhat baffled as to why.

Lost 1-0. Croatian defender suffered bad strain due to taking all the free kicks they were given from the 80 minute. No blocks or tackles made :manager:

Don't hate him just blatantly obvious he isn't good enough his goal scoring record or lack of it says it all.

Maybe we didn't want to give Nuhiu away as he offers something different to the others, Winnall is too similar to Fletcher so was the obvious one to make way for now. Football isn't black and white.

As previously stated we can't give him away and nobody wants to pay the ridiculous wages he steals from us week in week out.
