Guest Ash76
I think it took a slight deflection but don't see how that takes any credit away from McGugan it was a wonderful piece of skill that he executed magnificently I celebrated the goal and took some stick from those sat behind as I'd been in at him to put work in. I told them it was brilliant skill but there is more to football than having an ability do things like that. On the way out I saw the replay and thought it was a massive deflection and probably discredited him a bit, having seen it again I think it was a lot better than I gave him credit for following that first replay. The fact remains though that the 25 minutes he had put in before that were unacceptable and I don't think we'll see him make the bench for the next game, he was that bad yesterday I'd have dragged him off again
Last_Great_Hope
Starts negging then whinges about being negged... Reyt logic. Wait second, if there is one thing Ive learn from Tas in the DR, this must mean that Wily is trying to "pick you up".

dorian gray
There is no conclusive way to tell. It might have gone in anyway, with or without - whether it did or not. I prefer to praise his instinct and vision rather than the glass-half-empty clan. it's called realism... and it takes a deflection over the keeper... roaminowl
I didn't think I was being 'glass half empty'. I just called it as I saw it, or as I thought I saw it - deflected. Absolutely delighted it went in, either way.
barmyowl1212
Iv slowed the goal right down and the deflection was minimal to say the least.

S25OWL
Never wanted him to score I was in for a big win as I had double with Kieran lee first goal and 2-1 ... Saying that got runner up on 50-50 so can't complain with £91 Why did the fans scream at Bannan to pass it rather than take it in the corner
slinger208b
It's not about taking anything from LM, just about opening peoples eyes. When struck, the ball was rising but it hit the PNE player's leg and looped over the keeper. LM kicked the ball, it ended up in the goal. Hat off to him. It was a deflection... Sonny
In sure that 'you can stroll about doing roger all whilst we're under siege' forms a really central part of the managers tactics. He can often be heard saying 'don't bother working hard, I'll just use another sub to do the job you were brought on for if you don't feel like it'. FreshOwl
Some weird people on here. Last season we had a team of grafters and struggled to score. Now we have players like McGugan and Matias on our books who can score quality instinctive goals out of nothing, and they get slated for not tracking back and being defensive-minded. We play with a keeper, 5 defenders, and 2 box-to-box mids that get stuck in. That should be adequate defensively. We can afford two or three specialist attack-minded players better with the ball and capable of causing teams problems; if everyone tracks back, we play too deep and create sod all - and the striker gets isolated. I reckon some of you listened to Stuart Gray for too long. I don't want a team full of Semedos. Excellent post. Take a bow.
McRightSide
Watched it and re-watched it so many times now. Doesn't look to me that it's taken a deflection. It did But it's more of a glancing deflection of the calf of the player which gives it a slight loop
ViolaOwls
Jesus 13 pages about slagging a player off that scored a goal. This place is full of doom and gloom pillocks at times. Always looking for a scapegoat, can tell matais wasn't playing

Corneliusreeve
Enough to know that Lewis McGugan isn't worth £3m over 3 years That's £3m for the odd spot on the bench, he won't make the match day squad next time for that performance today That will be interesting to see if this is correct. I also didn't think much of his performance today seemed very lazy and I also pointed out to my son Bannan sprinting back past LM to help out the defence.................however, his goal was stunning deflection or not.
