shandypants
Why is a museum "tinpot"? Given that Sheffield is where football was born, and Sheffield Wednesday are a pretty big part of the history i think a museum is what we need. Oh FFS - I was messing about and having a dig at SUFC. ashley8
If at all in their plans to do something with the away end. The sooner we completely demolish it and rebuild an new stand which isn't a constant connection with that awful disaster in the better. Whilst we shouldn't forget those who died. We need to be able to move on now especially as it was not anything to do with our club. New stand new era. Other things are more urgent of course. darklord
It's 2015 Nobody says words like 'tinpot' and 'cringe' anymore Get with the times... Anyway a museum could generate income, and allow all our memorabilia from over the years to be housed and displayed properly arent all the trophies missing or something? If we go museum it should be at the back of the Kop with big glass windows so all the blunts can see them when they pass on their scrap carts
kevtheowl
1778062_3968dccc.jpg Knock down the West Stand this summer. Put the away fans in the South Stand lower for a season (West Stand end) Build a brand new stand that marries up the end of the South Stand, goes around the back of the goal, and meets up with the end of the North Stand. In it build two or three floors of corporate boxes, and get it up as high as possible with a bank of steep seating that's close to the pitch. Build into it bars, restaurant, and museum When it opens rehouse away fans elsewhere, and give the home fans the West Stand and make it a 'sit where you like' stand, where you just turn up and go sit in any seat you want. airborne_rat_of_s6
Only you wouldn't be able to completely flatten it as the whole of the sites electricity comes from under the West Stand including back up generator. Anything in construction is achievable with money, time and a bit of planning.
Tawny Owl
It won't happen until we are established in the prem as that will make it financially viable. Most likely between our 2nd and 3rd seasons. Complete conjecture of course but that's my guess.

Guest mkowl
I am sure the council planning department will just rubber stamp the plans in the next couple of weeks to ensure this happens Apart from that its a good idea
royalowlisback
Agree with most of the points raised by the OP - apart from the Sit Anywhere part. It just wouldn't work, would lead to every other seat being left empty (gaps in between groups of people) and arguing between drunken supporters just after kick off. The type of supporter that would most like a Sit Anywhere stand - are the ones most likely to turn up late.
Guest AbbeyOwl
I would leave the South Stand as it is, knock down the North and West Stand and Build a new L shape stand with exec boxes, we also then do away completely with any reference to leppings lane. The grandstand, south stand and kop could accomodate current crowd for a season. New stand would be state of the art and tick all boxes for corporate. It could have decent bars and a new shop could be built into the back of it.

Tell that to the thousands of fans who used to walk onto the kop when it was standing, and went over and stood with their mates, thus creating huge groups of people who had a laugh together, sang together and created the atmosphere. S36 OWL
Id put the away fans inf the half of the new stand at the triangle end , roof the triangle and open up the triangle for away fans too giving them the corner and half of the new west stand with home fans having other half of new west stand which should join up with the south. Guest CC28
Why cant we at least light up the 'sheffield wednesday' sign at night always seems to be off when i walk past at night. Dave Allen switched it off to save money, strafford switched it back on and dont know how long its been off for now Why cant we at least light up the 'sheffield wednesday' sign at night always seems to be off when i walk past at night. owls about that
The basic structure of the west stand is sound, needs a new roof minus posts, made into a single stand rather than two tier, with extra gangways in the lower part for access, new building built on the back housing turnstiles, facilities and stairways. this would be a cheaper and quicker option.
