Knock down the West Stand

The basic structure of the west stand is sound, needs a new roof minus posts, made into a single stand rather than two tier,

with extra gangways in the lower part for access, new building built on the back housing  turnstiles, facilities and stairways.

this would be a cheaper and quicker option.

The main thing is to eradicate the Leppings Lane Stand and all attached to it historically. Doing it up is the last thing we should do

Knock down the West Stand this summer.

Put the away fans in the South Stand lower for a season (West Stand end)

Build a brand new stand that marries up the end of the South Stand, goes around the back of the goal, and meets up with the end of the North Stand.

In it build two or three floors of corporate boxes, and get it up as high as possible with a bank of steep seating that's close to the pitch.

Build into it bars, restaurant, and museum

When it opens rehouse away fans elsewhere, and give the home fans the West Stand and make it a 'sit where you like' stand, where you just turn up and go sit in any seat you want.

Sorted

who's paying for it???

people were on here the other day complaining of 10% increases on season ticket prices to fund a serious promotion push...

so who will fund a brand new stand?, are you starting a new west stand fund?, are owlstalk stepping up to raise the capital needed?, maybe we could borrow it from the co-op bank...

football team first, there's no new ground, or stands...

Calm down, calm down, like.
So far all he's promised is a new lawn and a telly.
Now everyone thinks we can buy prolific strikers and build whole new stands.
He's not the messiah you know...

You can change the future but not the past, if a building is a shrine when you knock it down it isn't a shrine any more, time to move on, thats why I hated the white seats, what happened is decades ago, when will people stop wringing their hands, people get over wars when millions died surely its time to move on. Even where the twin towers were there is a new building, not a new twin towers, a completely new structure and no one feels sorry for themselves more than Americans

The Americans built a new structure because the old ones were already destroyed. Our current structure is still standing, so there's no need to knock it down. Keeping the current core structure - as long as it's structurally sound - and modernising it is surely a better idea than scrapping it and starting again. The fact that Leppings Lane runs behind (and the name of the stadium itself) means many people will still associate the disaster with that end anyway, whatever happens.

Why knock down the West Stand, the followings other Championship clubs tend to bring don't even come close to filling it.

I'd much rather see the money put into signing new players... Leave the away end as it is.

That's like saying banks shouldn't offer mortgages to the middle classes because they also do insurance.
