Zayatte not signing

It's customary at this level to have at least two full elevens before resorting to the attitude of 'stick Bullen in there'. At the moment our starters are Llera and Gardner. the latter who has a patchy injury record. Should one of those become injured we then have no specialist players at that position in reserve. Some will go on about sticking Reda or Buxton in there but then we are left thin in their positions, not to mention that both Buxton and Lee are unavailable at the moment and Reda has missed more games than he's played the last few months.

Yep, I think three centre halves is a bit thin also, and of those fit, I can only think of Semedo who might be able fill in if needed.

Looks bad on the club really when he's been around all pre season.

Surely we must have had a good idea what he was after - disappointed we've fell short because he was a guaranteed first-teamer and definite upgrade on Llera/Taylor.

Totally agree, if it has fallen through I'd be very interested as to why it has.

Wouldn't be surprised if the agent's started upping what's being asked for though.

It's a shame because DJ had identified two players in him and Coulibaly who seemed to be a perfect fit for what we needed. Both scuppered by unreasonable demands from either club or agents.

We don't really know that for sure though do we?

We currently have Taylor in reserve? Although I think he'll take Llera's shirt this season.

My point being we have 3 highly paid centre halves, we aren't going to add to that with someone who will add substantially to the wage bill when we have ample cover.

The majority of the money we have available should go on a striker, and if needs be bring in loan cover on minimal wages should one of the defenders get injured.

It's not a priority is it.
