Paddyowl
By Paul Thompson Sheffield Wednesday Published on Monday 2 July 2012 06:52 JERMAINE Johnson is set to become the last of Sheffield Wednesday’s out-of-contract players to sign a new deal. Plans for him to stay at the club remain on course though he is currently an odd man out after agreement with Arron Jameson, Stephen Bywater and Mark Beevers was reached. A deal with Johnson is understood to have been agreed in principle and the paperwork is due to be completed when the Jamaica international is back in town after a summer break. Manager Dave Jones wanted to keep him because he believes that an explosive player of his type is an asset and would be costly on the open market. Jones hopes to have added further to his squad by the time the players report back for pre-season training next week. Ideally he would like another exciting winger, Michail Antonio, to be among his next batch of signings but he and chairman Milan Mandaric are having to play a waiting game over the man who took Hillsborough by storm during his loan spell last season. The ball appears to be in Reading’s court, and much will depend on whether or not they want to keep him and whether they are prepared to part with him for the right price as they prepare for a Premier League campaign. Winger Garath McCleary seemed to push Antonio down the Madejski Stadium pecking order when he was signed on a Bosman free from Nottingham Forest earlier in the summer. Another Owls wing target and loan success, Burnley’s Keith Treacy, is seen by Dave Jones as a different type of wide man, compared to Johnson and Antonio - less explosive but with quality in his passing and at set pieces. http://www.sheffieldtelegraph.co.uk/sport/sheffield-sport/sheffield-wednesday-jermaine-johnson-agrees-to-new-owls-deal-1-4699657
heppers
Good news. Consistency is obviously an issue but he can definitely change games with his ability to run at players. Good news.
glenowl
This week JJ signs 1 year deal and Norris signs a 2 year deal for an undisclosed fee. (350K max) The following week Antonio signs a 4 year deal for 550K and Treacy a 3 year deal for an undisclosed fee. (Thought to be around 475K). ITK! ^^In another thread, maybe he is ITK

Guest Distraught!
Explosive is a good description for JJ. Sadly, not always in the football fashion!
Robowl84
Still a useful player to have in the squad, he may not start as many games as previous but will be useful as a back up or an impact sub.
Bluesteel
I love JJ, still has something to offer. The main thing is that we don't need to rely on him as our only outlet any more.

Jazzybmzoo
From a different perspective, It's refreshing to see that all the guys out of contract subscribed quickly to an extension and seems to be little thought of going elsewhere. To me this implies it's both a happy & ambitious squad, we're creating here.

Koper
Pleased with that. I'd imagine his last couple of contracts have seen his wages cut

I'd imagine his last couple of contracts have seen his wages cut Maybe so, but the love he has for Sheffield Wednesday outweighs the amount of money he can shove in is pockets.
