Fan owned and managed too.

Done while also spending £100 million on new stadium.

£20 million annual  profit recently.

All fans refunded.

It can be done.

Timed the new stadium to perfection, they could definitely overtake the likes of Fulham as London’s other club.

Well done to Brentford show what happens when you have good scouts and coaches who improve players but also able to sell when the big offers come in.

Can you see DC selling Watkin when offered £25m and investing £5m in Toney, who after 1 season and 30 goals is now probably worth £20m+.

They value youth and give it a chance, Dasilva is going to be a great player in a few years. But also see the value of experience in key positions such a Jansson at the back.

They have a new stadium bought not through loans or debt but from selling talent in the squad.

If they survive the first season, they will build like Burnley have done in the past.

They show that you don't need to rip your fans off to get success you just need people in jobs who know what they are doing.

There is literally no chance the 'Brentford model' would ever work at Wednesday. No slight on them at all, but they're a small club with fans that are enjoying the ride and fairly happy. We're a bigger club, with a larger fanbase that has far more expectation. Literally 0 patience in our fanbase. Just imagine the chaos on here if we sold Bannan in 2016 for a relative no name from Exeter and Chansiri just turned around and said "trust me, he has a high xG", the elephants would be right in the Don.

Also interested in seeing how the model works in the Prem. Not convinced they'll splash out much in the summer, which might mean them going straight back down, but they have the potential to be a Norwich/Fulham style yo-yo club, which honestly, isn't that bad a deal.

Maybe we need a reset, as we’ve spent more time in League 1 than the Premier league over the last 20 years.

I think they have some level of trust with the ownership and have seen too players leave, but they have a track record of getting in good replacements

No one is denying brentfords success and fair play to them.

But, they are not quite the fairytale that people seem to paint.

Their chairman has put in over £100 million, a lot of that in loan's to get them.up. Yes I know blah blah blah that we are crap, but they haven't done it on the cheap as some seem to think.

But even if he’s invested £100 million they’re still profitable, successful and promoted

they are not profitable though, if they were the chairman would not have to put 100 million in to sustain them.

the promoted bit is a bit of a low blow and part of the bullying culture should anyone disagree with the consensus at the moment, they won 2-0 ..had they lost 1-0 ...as we did 5 years ago...who knows where this would lead for them

I give up

If they hadn’t gone up; they’d have sold Toney for £25m and a couple others and then replaced them with players that cost a quarter of the fee and fit into the system. Then start over next season; probably still get in or around the play offs

And the 100 million they owed would have disappeared, I'm not sure why everyone is taking it so personally.

Maybe its me pointing out the facts

£25m of it will be financed against the new stadium and all the commercial and community facilities, £40-50m of the remaining £75m could be recouped by players sales, and the some of the rest covered by next seasons TV - Commercial money.

Transfer fees for replacements goes into next seasons finances.

Eh???

They just got promoted!

Thats not a low blow it’s the absolute facts

Why the hell are fans so hell bent on claiming victim status if someone points out the truth to them?

Its odd and I wish it would stop

I haven't a clue what goes where, have a look yourself bit it clearly states in their accounts how.much the chairman has put in

The accounts also show that other than 18/19 season when £27m of player sales boosted profits, they consistently make £m’s of losses each season. Even with £15m of player sales, their latest accounts show a £10.3m loss and a wages to turnover ration of 186%. Not healthy at all.

Player sales are an absolute necessity for a club the size Brentford. Their success is very much based on their scouting network and an owner with deep pockets.

They’ve made profit once in last 10 years. Their wages to turnover ratio is 186%. Is that sustainable without selling your gems every year?

With promotional bonuses this season, I dread to think what their accounts will look like for a club with a turnover of £13m.

Let's look at their account next season with £100m of tv income and a full stadium each and every game.

They have a small stadium but they have improved year on year from losing to us in the play off in 2012, they have improved year on year both off and on the pitch and next year they play in the top division for the first time.

Well done Brentford!!

@Dotis spot on, everyone going on about Brentford as though they’re performing miracles, but the reality is they’re no different to the likes of Wolves, Brighton, AFC Bournemouth, and others who have just thrown money at it. they’ve gone about spending it in the right areas, and built the club up, selling players for big sums makes people think that’s how they’re funded, which they are now, but at the beginning their owner invested millions and millions of pounds, increasing their wage bill to astronomical levels . Which allowed them to re-sign players on 5 year deals and continue to develop them, they picked up players for next to nothing and paid them a modest wage, but the minute other clubs come sniffing around with £3m £4m bids the owner offers them premier league wages to re-sign, which allows him to sell them for £10M £15M £20M two years latter. Out of The £103M he’s invested a massive percentage of that will have been on increasing the wage bill about 5or6 years ago.

Once again, this isn't some fairytale story.

They're a well run club, but one with a super wealthy owner.

The media will no doubt have some collective jizzfest over them next season. After all, they've been one of those teams that they've wanted to go up for a while.

Yeah, brilliant if they don’t invest in their squad and come straight back down again, £100m is a nice income.

Bit at least £50m will need to be invested into new signings and PL player wages at least double if not treble to what they’ll be earning in the Championship.

Suddenly, that £100m doesn’t sound such a windfall.

Promotion is the first step, establishing themselves over 3/4 seasons is the main target. They won’t do that without investing heavily on players.

Scouting players from Lg1 to make the step up the championship is far easier than identifying bargains good enough for the PL.

With everyone quoting the £100m investment did anyone thing what amount of that was running the club to get promoted during Covid, not every club is like us filing information 2 season's out of date.

DC has lost £160-200m making the club worst, not to mention homeless.

Brentford chairman has built a club from the ground up, developed a plan that works in the English league and is now a Premier league chairman.

If you think he going to waste £50m on player recruitment like DC has then you have not been watching much of Brentford over the last few years
