Well done Brenford

Yeah, brilliant if they don’t invest in their squad and come straight back down again, £100m is a nice income.

Bit at least £50m will need to be invested into new signings and PL player wages at least double if not treble to what they’ll be earning in the Championship.

Suddenly, that £100m doesn’t sound such a windfall.

Promotion is the first step, establishing themselves over 3/4 seasons is the main target. They won’t do that without investing heavily on players.

Scouting players from Lg1 to make the step up the championship is far easier than identifying bargains good enough for the PL.

So now we've got fans trying to convince us that promotion isn't worth having financially?

lol

Did I say that?

Of course it’s worth it financially but the £100m for the first season is a write off if you have any ambitions of having second one.

Look at the clubs who didn’t invest and came straight back down. Minimum of £50m needed to secure the right calibration of player to give you a fighting chance. Also, like I said, the £15-20k per week wage in Championship soon becomes £30-40k+ p/w in the PL.

With everyone quoting the £100m investment did anyone thing what amount of that was running the club to get promoted during Covid, not every club is like us filing information 2 season's out of date.

DC has lost £160-200m making the club worst, not to mention homeless.

Brentford chairman has built a club from the ground up, developed a plan that works in the English league and is now a Premier league chairman.

If you think he going to waste £50m on player recruitment like DC has then you have not been watching much of Brentford over the last few years

The 19/20 accounts only had three months of COVID effected results. With gates of 8,000 and only five home games missed it hardly equates to £100m.

Also, who said anything about wasting £50m on player recruitment?  If you think there scouting of Lg1 and the Championship is going to keep them in the PL, you’re as confused as your posts.

The Premier League isn’t about heavy investment, it’s about clever investment. Look at Fulham as a prime example. Threw the money at it without a plan. Started the season needing 2 centre halves at the bare minimum. Brentford are cleverer than that.

Brentford only sell a player when they’re happy they’ve got a replacement with significant potential lined up. They shop all over Europe, not just in league 1. They may choose to do a Norwich and try their luck the first season. Norwich have just proved that wasn’t a bad shout with their performance this time around.

You really are an angry little man aren't you, always having a go at people who you don't agree with.

Well done Brentford, the DC supporters will have a go but frankly they always do.😁😁😁😁

What’s angry about saying Brentford will need to invest at least £50m in new players to have a realistic chance of staying up?

You somehow interpreted that as them wasting £50m and then call me out as a DC supporter. You appear more angry than me.

Confusing different seasons at Fulham. Fulham spent around £20-30m this year, mainly relying on loans with options to buy. 2018/19 was the big £100m+ window.

There's truth in what mcguigan is saying. Being savvy in the Championship when you're up against a load of absolute guff is very different to successfully recruiting and staying up in the Premier League. Aston Villa spent an astonishing amount to stay up. Leeds this year spent near £100m.

Brentford will likely win a few games at the start of the season, everyone will say how refreshing it is but they'll end up relegated.

No one gave Bournemouth a chance but they held their own for four seasons before finally being relegated in the fifth.

The difference between them and Brentford in terms of how they reached the promised land is different though. Bournemouth spent relatively big money, and while Brentford have done the same, they’ve also counterbalanced that with the player sales over the last few years. Maupay and Watkins must have made them £40 million alone.

Even if they come straight back down, they’ll be returning in a far stronger position than the one they are already in.

The business model they’ve run with wouldn’t work here though, too many would be complaining that signing a left back from Walsall, a striker from Exeter and a winger from Oxford isn’t any good, and instead believing another 20k+ p/w back up midfielder from Burnley’s reserves is the way to go, simply because of ‘experience’
