He's one of those that Monk was talking about, only here for the money and doesnt care. Yet post a few Twitter posts and all the pillocks will love him. Strange breed are us Wednesdayites.

I can’t understand how he starts week in week out despite vacating his responsibility and position. His all around play is by far the worst of our center mids and I include Joey in that. Not his best game but he was still effective (but not spectacular) outside his defensive duties. Doing players a disservice is a major theme on Owlstalk

He has to play Bannan unfortunately cos we have no one else to fill his attacking role, unless he plans on Windass doing that. Bannan's role needs to be away from the defenders and nearer the attackers, more like what Reach did today, so it could possibly be that.
asteener1867
Bannan has been MOM more than any other player this season...The TV pundits rate him amongst the best midfielders in the league.... Our problem is the seeming reliance our other players have on him..That maybe partly his fault, cos sometimes he seems to demand the ball when theres mainly f.ook all he can do with it... You can see he sometimes flaps his arms and looks exasperated when a player tries something else... We need players who are capable of sometimes simply telling him to f.ook off...like the centre halves when he's dropping back..or such as Harris when he's out wide.. he needs to be used properly...and he needs to recognise that other players can sometimes cross a ball....(except for the crap f.ookers that can't)

If we have ambitions of achieving anything we need to be looking at better, more consistent players. I agree about the corners and defensive position (although he isn’t a defensive midfielder) but Bannan and Pelupessy we’re outnumbered against a hardworking Millwall midfield that gave Bannan little space and time. If we play our wingers a lot closer to Bannan then we give the Millwall midfield a lot more to think about and, in turn, take their focus off Bannan to a greater extent. I’ve seen very few midfielders that could do everything and can only think of Bryan Robson as the only one that could.

Today he had no choice but to play him, if Luongo is back next week then he has to come in for him alongside JP. 1

No surprise that our best two performances since the Christmas collapse have come in the cup, both games with Bannan didnt play in.

The others, absolutely no chance. The fact you've put Dawson in there, who got pelters last year on here for not being vocal enough, sums it up really. McRightSide
Criticism of quality and acceptance of mediocrity within the fanbase is a major issue we have. Bannan is one of a very small group of players we have that could actually play a big role in a promotion winning squad. But he’s forced to try and create magic in a team with Pelupessy being absolutely, cataclysmically out of his depth alongside him in a two, and Nuhiu as a lone striker ahead of him. But hey, let’s pan the guy who can actually help us win games instead of acknowledging the dire surroundings he has. Is he turning in perfect performances? Far from it. But I sympathize with him too. Meanwhile, feel free to accept what Pelupessy, Nuhiu, Rhodes, Harris and a Winnall have been turning in and turn your spite towards Bannan. Who gets pelters on here bears no relevance on the selection.

Well no, but people were suggesting he wasnt vocal enough and you want him as a captain choice, wouldn't work would it if he isnt vocal?

Hapless next to him and no-one to hit up front but what about his own game? The blind passes The refusal to make a challenge on an offensive player who’s is 20 yards from goal and Bannan is a few feet away The floated free kick that their keeper had all day to see and catch the shocking shot in front of goal when FF set him up The awful corner at the end Were they all Pelupesseys fault?
