Right He has played a lot of matches, nearly all of them, since CC went and JL came in. To be fair to CC, he finally picked him before he went to Swansea. But FV played through the dark weeks with a weak team, before Lees and the other good players came back, and kept going very well, putting in many committed performances, with one of his best and earliest games being vs Utd at The Lane. Even if he does not stay, JL will know how he kept on going, making very few mistakes and not giving away silly free kicks despite the pressure from the opposition match after match. Guest Kagoshimaowl
Such a solid defender. His passing though, especially today was diabolical. I like him. Just depends on the price for me.
BRADDO
1 hour ago, Mr. Tom said: As I said in a different Fred (), at his age he'd already be valued at £4m easy if he was British. Van Aken is hugely promising but has miles to go and may well end up playing further forward than CB. Venancio is already an embryonic leader from the heart of defence, we'd be absolutely mad to let him go for the sake of a few hundred thousand. If Loovens is gone in August, Pudil is borderline (been ace at CB this season, make no mistake, but he always tends to look in need of a breather) and VA is still basically a top-shelf dev squad player, Venancio-Lees IS our defensive anchor. We let players like Lopez and Sasso slip through our fingers like so much sand, and sign some multi-million non-starters to three-year deals. PLEASE let's not keep making the same daft mistakes. Fred is only just 25 FFS, plays like someone at least four years older. He's only gonna get better. Great Post

That opinion would maybe hold water if I thought Venancio was indeed a championship centre half but my opinion is he isn't so I would rather pick a young hungry league one player up who may be able to step up a league. Otherwise look for a cb out of contract with championship experience during the summer.... we dont have to pay a fortune to replace a cb that can only play in a 3 and is physically not strong enough imo.... How much did Cardiff pay for Bamba? wasnt he on a free? What about Stearman at the pigs? didnt they sign him for a packet of wine gums and truffle from a local truffle hunt? I'd rather go down this route than waste a couple of mil on a player i dont think is good enough! And its all about opinions
Socialist_Owl
Old ass Sol Bamba comes joined at the hip with Colin. Leeds fans were more than happy he moved on. Edited April 22, 2018 by Socialist_Owl

With regards to Bamba hasnt he made more tackles than any other defender in the Championship this season in the tightest defense in the division? I'd have taken him. My point is that he hasn't shown this form in some time. It's very difficult to plug and play with championship CHs.
Cash in the Attic
Yeah Im not saying that we will find the perfect cb but Im sure we can find a rough diamond to nuture from the lower leagues that will be more suited and much cheaper than what Fred is available for? Football is all about opinions... Ive just not rated him since he came into the side...maybe thats just me but Im predicting we wont sign him unless we can pick him up as back up for peanuts! Socialist_Owl
Fair enough. I think Venancio is closer to the finished article than picking up someone cheaper from league mates. Edited April 22, 2018 by Socialist_Owl
Sonny
Two million might well be relatively cheap but we’d still need a spare two million, which doesn’t seem that likely as things stand. Plus we’ve had him for nothing this year and Sasso for nowt last year so it’s clearly possible to find cheaper than two million.

Perhaps Lee's return might have something to do with that......?!? Yep and bannans and ffs and the upturn in performance of joao and nuihu . Its wasn’t Fred’s fault we were losing . I think he’s been pretty decent considering he was an unknown signed as back up

Its possible the loan fee might not be far away from that, as we've had him on a sort of 'try before you buy' arrangement.
Bouncing Owl
I think he’s been decent overall. However, I want us to go to a back 4 next season and I’d rather us go out and find a quality centre half who is a leader to partner Lees. I don’t think Venancio is good enough for a team playing a conventional back 4 who are looking to get promoted.
McRightSide
Better than Sasso and streets ahead of van Aken. I’d sign him but we need to generate some cash first. My guess is through the Hirst tribunal

Yeah I was simplifying matters really but appreciate there are fees with loans too, but even then 400k is a hell of a lot more palatable then two million if you’ve only got 400k.
