Megson had just  beat the pigs in a game that was a turning point for promotion. He had just signed a future England squad member who was the catalyst for our promotion run. Befor him we were in free fall.

Any update on the Titanic ?:goalie:

Why so much negativity about our Gary ffs he sorted a load of crap out that Irvine had bought then pushed on with his players that got us promotion, it was his scouting and I'll repeat His scouting that brough In Antonio, without him we would not have got promotion Jones or not. Have a look back how many goals we scored from set pieces and it's no surprise that west brom have scored more goals from set pieces in the premiership than any other team ffs wake up, he is our saviour, the  question is would he come.

£6.42 more than most others in that league.

Irvine blew most of Milan’s budget.

Megson brought in some cracking players for League One many of which held their own in the championship and, in Antonio’s case, went on to be selected for England.

Thought he got West Brom promoted twice.

Wonder what his stats looked like there.

Plus he won the Battle of Brammall Lane

That seems to have got conveniently lost on here.:columbo:

Megson was horrific as manager of Sheffield Wednesday

That bad it needed DAVE JONES to come in and get us promoted after Megson's side faltered, stuttered and stopped, whilst playing the worst football in our history

you could'nt be more wrong if you tried.......

Third in the league and closing the gap on second was anything but horrific.

Megson left the team and squad in much better shape than that he had inherited. Again this is anything but horrific.

Megson, in League One, signed the likes of Marshall, Antonio, Semedo, Baath, Lliera, Rob Jones, Bywater, COG. If our recruitment policy in the last few years had been anything like that under Megson we would now be in the Premier League.

Eh?

We weren't closing anything - we were slumping to an all time low when it came to the football we were playing and the results we were getting

Thing is with Megson - all the fans of his simply ignore the actual facts about what life was really like in his last 6 to 9 months of him being here. If Megson fans could acknowledge that we were terrible, the football boring and unsuccessful, then I'd take them more seriously, but as it stands all the Megson fans just choose to ignore the reality of what it was REALLY like then.

Again - this is so inaccurate in many ways

Firstly all the signings he made were pretty much irrelevant in the way he'd got them actually playing on the pitch (e.g. painfully defensively with no good results)

Secondly the signings Sheffield Wednesday have made over the last year or two have been beyond Owls fans wildest dreams in reality. We were going bonkers for Jordan Rhodes for example - and then Mr Chansiri went out and spaffed a bucketload on bringing him here.

Don't diss the quality of the players we have at Sheffield Wednesday and try to compare them to Rob Jones and Bywater for god sake...

lol

Despite having completely misconstrued my post you have, unwittingly, highlighted what a fantastic manager Megson was.  Two if not three of the players signed by Megson, Antonio, Marshall, Baath six / seven years ago, would actually improve our current first eleven! And this is despite the number of signings and millions we have spent over the last couple of seasons.

what an eye for a player Megson has what a visionary Megson is.
