Let's not forget that Carlos managed at both Sporting and Besiktas, both of which have very serious derby games.

Yet I keep hearing its Wilder who will have his boys all fired up. I'm sure the Istanbul derby has nothing on Oxford-Swindon.

Anyone know how Carlos got on in the derby matches?

If chunky Leon plays then he joins a small group to have played for both sides in a Derby.

Sharp has played this game before.

Im not sure it is Carlos' style to fire a team up. I think he will try and get the players to keep calm and stick to their game. As long as he prepares them for a fired up opponent looking to close our defenders down that is more important.

With Sporting he tied and lost to Benfica and beat Porto (he was hired after the first Porto game had occurred). Benfica ran away with the league that year.

With Besiktas he tied and lost to both Galatasaray and Fenerbahce.

So so not great.

Indeed - gives us a measure of what to possibly expect

David Jones will have played in several Burnley/Preston/Blackburn derbies...for all three clubs.

Butterfield has scored in a Barnsley/Wednesday derby game.

Ross Wallace has played in derby games with Preston, Burnley, Sunderland and Celtic.

Steven Fletcher has scored EIGHT derby game goals, whilst playing for Hibernian, Wolves and Sunderland.

Jordan Rhodes has scored FOUR derby game goals, whilst playing for Huddersfield and Blackburn.

Gary Hooper has scored SEVEN derby game goals, whilst playing for Scunthorpe and Celtic.

And...Barry Bannan's first ever goal in competitive football was for DERBY against UNITED.

I'm pretty sure he will have played in "Le Classique" - Olympic Marseille vs PSG - as well which is pretty fierce.  Not sure how he played though.

This is true, but in all of those examples he was managing the obviously smaller club - liking being in charge of Espanyol in a Barcelona Derby or City in a Manchester derby in the 1990s - so wouldn't be expected to have a great record.  This time he is obviously managing the more talented group of players so things will be different.

form/ size etc often goes out of the window - it will be frenetic and tactics, quality etc don't always play a deciding role.

The players need to match the intensity that Wilder will Instill in the Blunts - do that, get off a to a decent start and play for 90 mins we should have enough in the tank to see them off.

Its true that you definetily need passion and committment to win a derby.  But if I were betting on the match before kick off I would always back the most talented XI over the most "fired up" one.  Having better players is our biggest advantage on Sunday and we should use that to our advantage by trying to play good football and attacking them.

It was his first game for Marseille.

Came on as a 80th minute sub for Batshuayi (now at Chelsea).

Lost 2-1.
