  1. I think the lack of a holding midfielder is our biggest problem at the moment. We’re playing three neat and tidy passing midfielders for all want the same thing and end up on the same places. None of them protect the defence with often invites pressure on our back four. We need someone with a defensive instinct to win the ball back and give it to the more creative midfielders. If Luongo is going to be out for a while I’d consider moving Hutch there just to cover this for a while.
  2. He played in an awful lots of different positions across his career. Which was his favourite and why?
  3. BPF Hunt Iorfa Hutchinson Brown Adeniran Bannan Johnson Wing Shodipo Gregory
  4. Our three midfielders could be a real source of strength in this league and allow us to dominate possession. Dropping one of them to play 442 (which has disappeared for a reason) would be a retrograde step IMHO.
  5. Hmmm, lots of praise for BPF on here, but I thought he was quite flappy at corners and kicking wasn’t great.
  6. It’s a fifty plus game season and full back in an attacking side is a position where you use a lot of energy. I imagine there’ll be a fair amount of rotation with Hunt playing 30 or so games there and Palmer the other 20.
  7. Left footed. Can play centre back or left back. That’s exactly the gap in the squad we have.
  8. It’s weird how fans think managers can’t learn, change or adapt. He’s got 3 more years experience as a manager since WBA and has clearly developed, like we all do in our day jobs with experience. Last season he played a completely diff style than his Plan A against Barnsley, for example, because he knew they played a suicidal high line and we could get in behind. Likewise Donny fans told us he could only play 4-2-3-1 but he’s gone with numerous styles and formations with us.
  9. This has to have been written when we’d only signed Adenarin and Brown and just published now. Surely.
  10. I do think he’s a better centre half than midfielder. Has a bit more time there to pick his passes, can read the game really well and doesn’t get booked as much. Looks like Moore is gonna be the first manager to give him a full season as first choice CB. And if Iorfa stays that is a Rolls Royce partnership with a bit of everything for this level.
  11. Decent options in centre mid now. Luongo who can sit and break up play. Adeniran who can do similar job but with more energy to go forward. Bannan/Byers who can orchestrate. Wing who can break forward and get a goal. FDB who has the raw pace to do the same. It’s a 50+ game season so having 6 players for 3 midfield slots makes perfect sense and they’ll all get a game time as Moore switched between 4-2-3-1, 4-3-3 and 3-4-3 depending on opponents.
  12. First team: Peacock-Farrell Hunt Iorfa Hutchinson Brown Luongo Wing Bannan Green Paterson Shodipo Second team: Wildsmith Palmer Dunkley (New??) (Johnson?) Adeniran (Byers?) FDB Corbeanu Kamberi Windass
  13. Why do people keep writing their teams with central midfielder Wing out wide. Is it just because he has “wing” in his name?
  14. That is a good starting eleven for this league. Get in two more forwards and centre back and I think its a good squad as well.
  15. As much as we want rid, I don’t think there’s anyone we’ll release this summer that will have any difficulties in finding a new club.
  16. I think a slight tweak of the midfield triangle to make it 4-3-3 would make most sense. First and second choice below based on who I think will be starting and going. Wildsmith Palmer Iorfa Dunkley ??? Hutchinson Luongo Bannan ??? Paterson Green Dawson ??? Brennan Borner Galvin ??? FDB Hunt Hagan Adeyon ???
  17. This might be sacrilege to say but ... Joey has been one of our better players this season. He’s got his limits, obviously, but also his strengths. If you just ask him to sit in midfield, break up play and give the ball 5 yards to Bannan he’s very effective. So ... couldn’t you say all the same about Semedo? Isn’t Joey about equally as talented as Jose? Semedo was dominant in League One and that’s the first impression he made on fans who’ll always love him for it. But he did struggle when we got up to the Championship. If we go down I bet Joey would similarly boss League One, but because he signed at a higher level his first impression wasn’t so good. If fans love one why do they hate the other.
  18. He says he’ll asses the squad and play to our strengths. In my mind one of our strengths is a potentially quality midfield three of Brown/Luongo/Bannan. So I hope he sticks to his word, recognises that and plays quickly through midfield - not smashing it over their heads.
  19. Predicted team given all the injuries and suspensions: Westwood Odubajo Lees Borner Palmer Luongo Bannan Windass Brown Reach Rhodes
  20. Rudy Gestede. Currently out of contract. If Pulis doesn’t think Paterson is a striker he’ll need to find a new target man somewhere.
  21. Timing isn’t weird at all. Lots of clubs like to change managers at the start of an international break as it gives the new guy two weeks to prepare for their first game, not two days like if they’d sacked Monk after Wycombe.
  22. First day of an international break is the ideal time to sack a manager as next guy gets the most time before their first match. DC will have been planning this since Rotherham and I’d be amazed if there wasn’t an announcement tomorrow.
  23. Chansiri is learning. Good. When he let Carlos go he had no clue and drifted until he ran out of options and appointed Jos. But when he replaced Jos he already had Bruce lined up. Sensible chairmen line up successors and give them two week international breaks to bed in. Bet there'll be an announcement in the morning.
  24. Mostly agree with OP. 4-3-3 like this would suit us best atm. Only thing is I’d play Reach on the right so he can cut in and shoot, and Harris has always been better (when playing as a winger not a wing back) on the left. As wingers both of them would receive the ball closer to goal than they do and so be better able to deliver and end product quickly than how they do now.
  25. Football in 2020 has left both of them behind
