I miss the foreign flavour of the loan watch thread, we need some people to go on loan abroad in January

Agreed

... Bucharest, Tilburg, Pacos de Ferreira, Moreira de Conegos ........... Burslem, Accrington .................

Not quite the same, is it?

It really isn't, we had such a continental flavour in the 2nd half of last season, now we have a place whose crowning glory is somehow being worse than Stoke, the only place in England where the town centre isnt actually the place its named after

Here's a little something for those out there who are missing the exotic locations of the original thread

Maybe you're feeling a little homesick (ie sick of home)

A brief round-up then of some familiar old faces .....

Portugal - Sasso started out as a regular for Belenenses but has gone missing presumed injured lately (4apps out of eight games)

Melo has gone backwards at Chaves, usually on the bench - occasionally comes off it (3apps in eight)

Semedo 1 sub app for Setubal to date and then nothing - REFUSE to accept he's picked up an injury, so ....... dunno

Netherlands - Lachman a regular for Willem II yet again (7 games out of seven) but they're rubbish this season, bottom of the league

                    - Urby also 7 out of seven for Utrecht (although some as a sub) they're mid-table

The good 'ol USA - Dielna has already racked up 9apps for New England but they're a bit hit 'n miss too, still plays the games though

(sigh)

Ne'mind, eh?

Back to Burslem and Accrington at the weekend (with a trip to Gillingham on Sunday)

Urby exists and is playing football?

... and doing reasonably well too, it seems

^ those are just his league stats (5 starts +2 as sub)

He also made 6apps in the Europa League qualifiers (4 +2) and started in Utrecht's one domestic cup game (a 6-0 win)

Accrington  0-2  Luton         (att: 2,193)

Jordan Thorniley recalled for this one after missing the midweek cup game

He played the whole match and got a few mentions on various live texts for his defensive work but that was as good as it got

The result put a slight dent in his own wins to appearances record and sees his side slip to 6th place, while Luton climb to 3rd

Meanwhile, at Port Vale it's business as usual

Another home defeat (Grimsby 1-2) and no sign of Jack Stobbs in their matchday squad

Their new manager has gone on record saying all his players will be given a chance to impress, so maybe it's Jack's turn next week

Not loan related, I know - but congratulations to ex-Owl Chris Lines

He celebrated his 300th appearance for Bristol Rovers today by helping to wreck Lewis McGugan's home debut

bus didn't stay long at that Rumanian club he went to when he left us then ......

Had no idea Bus had moved on again.  Just looked it upon Wikipedia. Back in Bulgaria.  We got him from CSKA Sofia.  Now at Levski Sofia.

On 2 June 2017, Levski Sofia confirmed the signing of Sergiu Buș on a free transfer from Astra Giurgiu.[9] The transfer was officially announced by the club on 13 June.

Remember how mental we went when Bus scored that goal against Huddersfield. "The Bus, the Bus, the Bus is on fire" remains one of my favourite songs ever heard on the kop lol

Don't think his career with us could be salvaged after that miss at Newcastle.

Just like Stevie May. We had such high hopes.

A very intelligent footballer, unfortunately stuck with the worst possible physique - he was small, slow and weak. Pretty difficult to be all three at the same time frankly.

And his finishing was up there with Nuhiu's.

Had to have me wits about me when behind the goal when they were walming up.

lol

Gillingham  0-1  Portsmouth          (att: 8,163)

The stats suggest a fair result

The live texts suggest Sean Clare made a fairly modest contribution - and was duly subbed off on 67mins

The result leaves his side second bottom and struggling tbh

So ...... did anyone watch it?

Let's see some marks out of ten
