Head Coaching Is Easy

Recommended Posts

A bit of fun for Bank Holiday Monday..

Wednesday are playing at home against the league leaders and you're Head Coach.

Away from home they generally play a patient game, passing the ball about, waiting for mistakes or opportunities to break at pace, and get beyond full backs. Most goals they've scored away from home come from counter-attacks where they've got to the bye-line and got a cross in to their big, powerful, striker, or pulled the ball back to the edge of the box from where it's been banged in the bottom of the net.

They're a very mobile team, and interchange positions a lot. Their key play maker roves all over the pitch and needs to be kept an eye on.

You've got a full squad to choose from. What team would you select, what tactics would you adopt, which players will have specific jobs to do, and what? How would you set your team up to play etc.

Might while away some time until there's news of a signing.

Opponents

Keeper - Commands his box well but suspect on low shots

Defence - well drilled, two solid, but not too quick, central defenders. Full backs speedy and attack-minded but sometimes slow to get back.

Midfield - one dirty thug who likes to kick anything that moves, two very speedy wide men, and one very cultured ball playing midfield general, but as a unit, they interchange and move about a lot.

Strikers - one big lump good in the air, but also good with his feet. The other one is a nippy, speedy, bugger who won't stand still, moves out wide, creates space for others, and is prepared to drop deep as the midfield comes forward.

With so many tactical experts on here, shouldn't be too difficult a task to pick and prepare a team.

Remember, we have no injuries or suspensions, we have a full squad to choose from, to make it easier.

you'd want to push those 2 f/b's back...

get a 'foot in' on their 'cultured ball player', several times (see if he's as 'cultured' when he's limping)...

a good centralised defensive bank of 4, with 'likely' the m/f having to try and stop the wingers crosses...

and hope for the ref getting one for us with a diving header or the likes as we don't have the forward line to 'compete' in such games (unless we just signed someone, and if so i'm on the wrong thread)...

Time is not on his side though

Nope.

And I suspect that although he'll be getting some nice surprises, realising that some players are capable of things he didn't realise, there will be others that aren't currently delivering what he expected.

Not easy.

5 at back

2 in midfield

3 up front

Bombard the opposition box with high long balls. Play with high tempo. Shoot at every opportunity with forwards rushing the keeper if the ball breaks loose.

The threat of Greno Woods at 5am on Sunday morning if we lose.

I would deliver the league title, and both domestic cups with this simple formula.

CC has all this pressure on him and he hasn't worked with the players long enough yet to even know what they're capable of.

He only finds out when he plays them in match conditions.

I'm yet to see this patient football...we've played the long ball way more than I thought, ironic since we brought in a continental coach to play the continental way.

Nor have we played aggresive attacking football.

Carvahal obviously talks a good game but he's struggled to put it into practice....yes he's only had a handful of games but there's nothing to suggest we're going to play with the barca, Man City philosophy.

Brian laws had us playing decent football with lesser players, that's what good managers do, even with inferior players
