Statement please?

Recommended Posts

If communication is a measure of the progress being made, then nobody can be happy at snail like pace of progress.

I assumed that Chansiri & co would have someone lined up to replace Gray, they're businessmen after all and they know there's a need to keep customers happy. Right now the business and the brand don't look great in terms of progress.

There is no way any can argue that the position we are in is ideal or was planned. Ideal would have been Grays successor moving in the next day, so every day that goes by without a manager/head coach/honcho at the helm is another day away further away from th ideal.

As fans we all want to be assured that our beloved club is in the right hands and the guys behind the scenes are doing their best.

No news is certainly not 'good' news right now. We all want a guy in who can bring their own players in, get them to gel before the season starts and then be ready for the start of the season.

Surely an indicator of "progression" is, you know, doing things rather than talking about doing things?

In other words come out with a load of B******T.

No thanks , I'd sooner wait and see what happens. We've all become news crazy. Communication is the 'in word'. Load of crap.I'll wait, albeit impatiently, until the clubhas something positive to say.

Spot on. Plus people seem to be forgetting if statements are made it alerts other clubs to what we're doing, I'd rather we just keep everything hush until things are finialised. I don't need to hear any media spin about things are progressing, I know things are progressing i don't think Glenn is at Glastonbury

It depends whether the club wish to view supporters as stakeholders in the vision that they have or merely as pegs that pay money to walk through the gates.

I would imagine that a key element to the success of Mr Chansiri's project is inclusivity which means taking the fans along with him.

Any supporter can abstain out of choice. There really is no mandatory requirement to listen or read any press release put out. Simply personal choice.

Would also point out that an successor to Gray won't be "bringing in his own players".

At best, he will have some input into the committees decisions on who to sign.

A statement is long overdue.

How the club have let this drag on for so long without any kind of update to the fans is beyond me.

Imagine if we were Chelski and this happened. The press would be having a field day.

of course you, like many others, would be classed as drama queens by those more than happy to pìss in the dark.

I would imagine that a very large percentage of our fans will only start worrying if we're not winning games when August comes around and won't be taking a great dea of notice of what's happening at the moment.

It's only those trapped inside the Owlstalk bubble that are in need of an update every 5 minutes- it reminds of someone who's got a new bird and keeps checking their phone for a text.

Nobody's asking for an update every five minutes, as well as you know.

That is a good point, but would it be those same fans who don't need even a simple statement or schedule of PR releases at this point in he summer, who then start kicking up a fuss once they realise they've been sleepwalking into a submissive silent relationship with the club, and of course happy to accept that all they are to the club is a small bit of turnover on gate receipts and kit sales?

Just speculating like... In the absence of any communication with the fan base of course...

I really think that Chansiri is missing a key trick with this one.

You look at this thread and you would think that only two extremes existed - too much communication (boastful/non realistic claims) and no communication at all. This is one area where whole swathes of middle ground exist.

It is clearly recognized that one of the club's greatest weaknesses for some time now has been on the commercial side. One of the key elements to improving this is treat treat supporters and local businesses inclusively. That means good PR and communication.

The modern commercial world requires strong lines of communication. It is a specialist role that requires a good PR guru. I have read on OT in the past about some guy called Steve Chu (IIRC). He sounded like the type of guy that the club needs now. Somebody to sit between the club and the fan base creating a link.

Communication comes in all forms. The odd press release or interview would be nice. Club open days are useful as was "Owls in the Park". WE need these kind of things more than ever.

It is just about keeping everyone together and keeping everyone in the loop.

A statement about Loovens would be nice seeing as the Star said he'd signed a years deal about a week ago and so far nothing on the OS

If he hasn't signed yet, then I would suggest that it is The Star that needs to make a statement and not the club.

Be careful, both this and your previous post are far too sensible, you could be laying yourself open to the excess brigades of both sides..

For what it's worth, I agree with you.

It may well be Mr C's business to do what he wants with but if he wants to maintain (and grow) his fan base he needs to communicate clearly with said fans (obviously not with sensitive information), if the team do well he may continue to ignore the fans at his peril because if we stop winning, that's when he will need us..

Not a dig at the club but surely the release of some form of statement highlighting where we're at regarding the football management structure at the club.

Seems like an age since Grey went and no official comment made. Not good for stability as well as the pending season looming upon us.Also what this new direction the club is taking is made up of?

Please try harder to spell people's names right. The head coach was called Gray (not Grey). It's not difficult.
