nolan_swfc
Although near enough everyone thinks he'll go (me included) but what will make him stay and who could replace him I personally wouldn't mind Roger Johnson him and loovens at back would be brilliant
alanharper
I don't think he'll stay unfortunately, he's going to be in the world's biggest shop window in the summer. As for a replacement, I can't think of anyone in particular but a younger CB with decent pace would be an asset - as good as Gooch and Loovens are the Watford and Brighton games in particular showed how susceptible they/we are to through balls played behind them to quick strikers. southportdc
He will stay if we get promoted or pay him lots and lots of moneys. Or if he mysteriously disappears between now and October and can't sign for anyone else.
NorfolkNChance
Is he guaranteed to go to the World Cup? I rate him, whether we can get 40+ games a season out of him is another thing
Lostowl
I don't think he will go to the WC, unlikely to get a game if he does go That would be good for us
FlyingOwl
He's gonna be playing at the world cup for a half decent USA side, AND he's available on a free? Wouldn't surprise me if he went to a prem side like Leicester.
matthefish2002
Too injury prone for me. Fed up of signing crocks.
Orlando_Trustful
His injury record is going to be against him. To be honest if we were only going to get 25 or so games a season out of him I probably wouldn't bother.
Night King
If he wasn't injury prone we wouldn't have a chance of signing him.
Sultan_Pepper
I have a sneaking suspicion we may have agreements in place to sign Oshilaja and Hutchinson at the end of the season. Absolutely nothing to base that on other than a feeling in my bones. If we started the season with Loovens, Roger Johnson, Zayatte and Oshiilaja as 4 CB options and Hutch and Semedo as emergency cover I'd be very happy
BRUCE LEE
Can't see him staying tbh, if we have to replace Gooch i'd rather us go for a younger premiership loanee than a Martin Taylor lump. Omeruo looked class for Boro when we played them, if he's out for loan again next season he'd be bang on at the side of Loovens.
sheffield_dave
Don't think it's a forgone conclusion he'll go to the World Cup. Played in the friendly against the Ukraine where they played their European based players. Apparently they all had an absolute mare at the back. cowl
He's missed 4 games out of the 20 that he's been here for, so he's been fit for 80% of the games - personally, I think that's not too bad. He was fit for all his time at QPR too, and was mostly fit last season at Malaga. He just wasn't deemed good enough to be picked at times. He was also fit the season before for Portugal. People make too much of his injury record. It's actually okay. Bad knee injury at Milan but that was it. He was mostly fit before that and he's been mostly fit since (last three years). Still, I don't think he'll sign. I reckon his wage demands are too high for us and that he only relaxed them in order to get the games under his belt for the World Cup. Sadly, I don't think he'll get called up for that anyway.
twolaptops
Would like a season where we are not holding our breath about the fitness of injury prone squad members. Would prefer a younger/fitter CB ..... & not Roger Johnson....thought he was over rated

Guest wilyfox
I doubt whether Onyewu himself has put much thought into it. He seems fixated on one thing right now. I bet he'd have moved to Timbuktu if it got him a place in Klinsmann's squad.
matthefish2002
If we do re sign Gooch, Hutchinson and Reda and have a bad season I hope we do not complain about bad luck with injuries.
