bradowl
I was on that one, then when we got to Blackpool station, instead of a police escort to the ground, we were welcomed by the army, who walked us on the promenade guns and everything to the ground. think they were only ta but it looked good. I can remember after game when they marched us back to station down one of side streets with B&Bs down each side of road and The Wednesday chants went up and everyone went rushing to windows wondering what was going off. Next chant "Get your boobies out for the lads!!!
Flat Owl
I remember the intercity owl to Portsmouth 83/84 I think stood on the uncovered away end and it pissed it down all day....think we won 2-1....when the game was over the coppers told us the train had broke down , so we had to wait..i think an hour passed (still weeing it down)...no train...a bit of moaning by the wednesdayites and they moved us to the home end which was covered...I think about half an hour later our train was ready , when got to the station we found out we had no train heat....which ther trying to fix...another 30 mins passes and the train starts to move . , the train clears the platform and trains stop again...copper tells us a train has derailed at the next single ahead of us.....its now about half 8 on a Saturday night and we are about 100 yards out side Portsmouth station ....we get back to Sheffield at about 2am wet through and smelly ...I gets home to my house about 2.30am and I have to wake my folks up...I get a clip round mi lug hole and grounded for a week for being late home.....I was 14... I was on that - 16 at the time. Won it with a Megson goal - played Brighton away the week before? so got the two ICO tickets with a discount. Folk playing cards in their keks with jeans drying on the luggage racks - freezing - Me dad stayed up though as he'd heard about the problems on radio sheffield. marconi
The disco train was called the league liner, don't know if we ever got allocated it. Went on the ICO a few times. Ones that spring to mind are Newcastle when Shelton scored a late winner, bricked windows as far south as Darlington. Man Utd new years day when we beat them 2-1 Highbury for the FA Cup semi with Brighton Villa Park for the FA semi with Everton Shrewsbury Edited January 24, 2014 by marconi
smiths565
Got a bit of a mystery here - this is a Ticket from the football special days. But I cannot work out where this was going or when The date seems to be either 31 May 1981 or 1991 - but thats outside the normal football season. Did they print the wrong date? Can anybody suggest what this game was

goodytheowl
Sorry, thought it said 84 at first. We played Watford away 2nd May 1981 so maybe slipped two extra notches by mistake?
