The Jj Appreciation Thread

Recommended Posts

I've written off and wanted us to get rid of JJ on countless occasions. His habit of long injury lay offs, erratic displays and occasional attitude and disciplinary problems over the last few years contributed to this and it seemed that despite the odd moment of inspiration, his best days were definitely over. But since Antonio's injury (and I had absolutely no hope of JJ filling his boots) he has been brilliant.

He's a big game player who has a habit of digging us out of a hole when we seem bereft of any other options. He is  hit and miss, but if he can be the catalyst to steering us towards safety then he should definitely be given another one year contract.

When you look back on the important goals he's scored and despite his pitfalls, £250k from Bradford six years ago; he's got to be one of our best pieces of business in the last 10 years.

Started the season well and then got left out, came in a did well up top with Antonio which started our up turn in form and he's back in and winning us very important football matches.

The lads is f'kin class.

Give him another year now.

JJ, Wednesday legend. One of the few players who have stuck with us through the up and downs in the last 6 years.

players come, and players go...

but jj has stuck with us through some sh*tty times, just like the supporters, he's an honorary one of us i guess...

ps.

you do realise that this time next week we're likely to be cussing him again...

He is worth having around the squad for those 2/3/4 games a season where he is totallly uplayable or comes off the bench and saves us.

Unplayable today.

Give him a new contract and I would have said that before today.

We can't replace an impact player like JJ without spending money. That money would be needed and better spent elsewhere.

Spot on. When he plays like that there is no one better in this division to replace him.

We should know by now what you get with JJ. You have to accept it. Said when Antonio got injured that he was due a hot streak. He's got a couple more games at least left in him on this current one.

Agree he is one of us .

Why can't people accept he won't play great every game and that lower league clubs are allowed to have servants of the game who donate large amounts of their careers to one club?

Longest serving player, entertainer and always to be relied on.

Never doubted him and never persecuted him just because he can't dribble round six players every game.

Just enjoy him and be grateful that in this day and age of silly money and lack of loyalty JJ has played with a smile on his face for years in a Wednesday shirt and will be remembered for years to come.

Cult hero, icon and a nice fella to boot.

I agree mate, sounds like he gave brizzle defence a headache in first half at there place as well.

Keep him on a rolling 1 year contract till he retires, he would still be faster than sedgewick when he's 55. lol

Agreed, he's either extremely good, extremely poor or extremely hot headed when he plays. But he has been well worth the money Laws paid for him all those years ago.
