jasper
This is probably why we ended up with Rodri. Every cloud............ I think I will reserve judgement on Rodri, but Ranger could well prove a better bet at championship level than Madine , who has been knocked around a bit easy so far. To be fair to Madine he has been chasing his fitness so far and he managed to knock Fulham around easily.
eckington owl
I thought he played his part for us last season, but I don't think we need him now. Presumably this was before we signed Bothroyd? Who is a far better player imo. Good luck Nile.
ctpgrant
If it wasn't for this stalling, we wouldn't have Bothroyd now. I know which one I'd rather have :)
iceowl14
The boy's got to learn that to be a great prem striker you gotta have a strong foundation, and the champinoship is the perfect league for that with how competitive it is. I don't think he'll be a prem striker for a long time.

Guest GreenGoose
He was useful when he was here. Time to move on, no need to be bitter about him. Good luck lad.
i used to be sc_owl
The thing about Nile Ranger is that, well, he didn't look a great player by League One standard. The fact that we were thinking about bringing him in for a Championship campaign is a little worrying - I would have thought we'd be looking at a better quality of player. Guest chuckie4570
Boothroyd = Ranger No brainer - Boothroyd everytime!
Guest wilyfox
We have young strikers in Madine, Maguire and Rodri. We needed an experienced head. I'm not Bothroyd's biggest fan, but I'd still take him over Ranger for the reason given. Plus people say he's a provider as well as a scorer - which Ranger isn't... Mike Hunt
5 year deal at the Magpies , flip me who sanctioned that ?
TheBoyBeevers
5 year deal at the Magpies , flip me who sanctioned that ? Probably the same guy who thought it would be a good idea to shell out 100k+ a week in wages on Alan Smith and Danny Guthrie.
Guest Fedor
All five strikers we have are better than him IMO. Really don't understand the fuss, he was average for us in his loan spell, flashes of his potential but generally off the pace and anonymous during games. I honestly didn't rate him last season. I think we already have better strikers at the club. Agree with both these posts

Beholder
Glad he turned us down. There must've been more to it though, otherwise he would have come. Maybe he didn't believe he would be an automatic first choice..
theowlsman
Three and a half years left of being on premiership wages whilst sitting at home chilling, and going out with the lads. Sums up football and footballers of the modern age.
SiJ
Meh. We have much better striking options now.
