Wouldn't have thought they need 3. Jedinak, Tshibola, Ashley Westwood, Gary Gardner... Some quality there already. I just think they need one quality playmaker in there like Cairney or Lansbury - and for McCormack to buck up.

It appears to be desperate at Villa. Spend, spend, spend and hope for the best. Hardly evolution and they will be lucky if all the players gel quickly, even if they get them. Another couple of bad results and they'll be out of the mix for this season.

For them to stand a chance one of the top 6 has got to slip up because taking the points tally so far and assuming that form continues 80pts will be needed for the play offs. Villa would need to get an average of 2.25 points per game for the rest of the season.

That just gets them a place in the play-offs and that is a lottery, anything can happen.

They've left it too late, it's possible but at long odds.

Bojan could be a good signing for Boro, they definitely need a better way to link midfield to attack and Bojan on form is decent at that, they played pretty well at Watford and with just one or two more quality players could well survive this season.

3 wasn't it? Palace, Norwich, now Burnley. Like Rhodes, very good at championship level, but maybe lacking in the top flight.

Hmm maybe, thought Norwich was in the Championship but I don't care enough about him to check! Palace gave him very few minutes but I'm sure if he'd shown enough in training to warrant more time he'd have got it.

Middlesborough moving for Bojan as well. Rhodes will definitely be moving soon. I reckon Villa will look to make a statement and splash out especially after the weekends result.

Yes, we no longer seem to have any room for him, and Villa do need a striker Wouldn't rule out Leeds either

When did he last score? Proven at Championship level, but he always fails to step up....

Championship     Tu 14 Apr 2015     Middlesbro     2 - 1     Wolves

Last of his 19 goals in 44 appearances for Boro, guess it explains why they're after him they know what he's about.

Nixon said yesterday that Boro were going to sign Snodgrass, they seem to be going for it this window.

Not sure Hull will sell, guess it depends how much Boro offer, he didn't look happy to be subbed at the weekend that's for sure, can't have any complaints though new manager has been the business so far for them, really good comeback against Bournemouth (who in fairness were awful).

They were supposed to be willing to offer £10m for him, which is a lot more than West Ham were offering.

Hull would be nuts to sell at that price, although Allam does seem determined to piss off the Hull fans as much as he can whilst he still owns the club. Marco Silva seems to be an extremely astute appointment, expect him to be gone to another Prem team within six months.

Wolfsburg youngster Anton Donkor is reportedly on his way to Aston Villa.

The 19-year-old winger is set to join Villa, according to German newspaper Bild.

Donkor has yet to make his first team debut with the Bundesliga club, so would most likely be earmarked for Villa's development squad rather than the senior group.

Wolves aren't halting their hunt for Ben Marshall, with talk of a £1.3m bid being enough to persuade Blackburn to part with the versatile attacker.

The 25-year-old has links with Paul Lambert from his time at Ewood Park, and with Wolves eager for Championship experience it would prove a sound and inexpensive move.

Meanwhile, former Wolves star Robbie Keane has been linked with a move to Preston as he eyes a late career move.

Keane has left LA Galaxy, and had spells at Spurs, Aston Villa and Liverpool in the past. However, his wage demands may be a sticking point for the Deepdale outfit.

QPR CHASE DUO

QPR have had a £1.3m bid rejected by Rotherham for striker DannyWard. Ward has scored nine League goals in 25 starts for the struggling Championship side this season.

QPR have also re-started talks with Bristol City over midfielder Luke Freeman. A £250,000 bid has already been rejected. Freeman was not in the squad for Saturday's 3-2 defeat against Cardiff City.

Read last week that Rotherham had supposedly turned down two bids of nearly £2 million for him.

Interesting that Villa seemingly preparing endless bids for players, yet no news on any of them.

Agents feed journos stuff like this, for obvious reasons.

That's the problem with the January transfer window panic buying at over inflated prices because teams don't want to part with their better players. Think it highlights just how well we have done to get most of our business done early and at a reasonable price level before the last minute dash begins at the end of the month.
