captain jack
If he was going down under his own steam - dive - then how can the tackle have brought him down???!!![/quote Because he made contact with him
richowl
U get nothing on the ball and u take the man it's a PEN doesn't matter about anything else
since59owe
was a pen imo. Ref bottled it Indeed
No Uniform
Good refereeing. There was no need to dive. Wasted a good opportunity.
Guest ben29
It was a dive. He was going down before their guy even touched him (which he barely did). I would prob agree with this. bacjed up with the fact that he dives all the time.
Pompeyowl
he made a meal of it but the real issue was how the ref was so easily won over by them. The whole stuff with may vs their keeper was a complete joke, as soon as he gave into that any 50/50 chances were not going our way in their half. Absolutely agree. Hoe do you get a warning from the ref for being pole-axed by the keeper?!

modboy
the linesman was so close and didnt make the call Dont think we were hard done by, fair result in the end and we WILL score one day soon
richowl
you got one about 10 seconds earlier neil when their defender is still stood up but Maguire is already on his way down?
MartinOwlMan
Referee made a mistake with this, as he did with the situations between May and their 'keeper. May ended up getting booked for what was his first offence.
mattitheowl
this is a penalty.jpg Clear then. Going down before the contact. And crumpled at the middle when the contact was on his toe end. Just not bothered...
modboy
you can tell hes on the way down even on that picture imo Should have stayed on his feet and pulled it back
RichieB
U get nothing on the ball and u take the man it's a PEN doesn't matter about anything else Basically this. It was a pen.
jimbo10179
Pen, like I always say, if it's same tackle ANYWHERE else on the pitch it's a foul. Compare it to when a defender is pegged in his own corner flag, the slightest touch he goes down and wins a freekick. Disgusting decision, seriously falling out with football
Guest Kagoshimaowl
It is a DEFINATE penalty but Maguire really doesn't help himself with his theatrics!!
Big Jack
The defender DID NOT win the ball reckless challenge ...seen those given many many times, when there is contact a player is entitled to go down, never a booking. Ref was flipping awful AGAIN!!!
modboy
proves how hard it is when its half and half on here Linesman was the closest and the ref had a GREAT view Imo as said he went down too early, perhaps if he stayed on his feet now and again we would get these decisions
EcclesallOwl
It's not a half and half at all It's a stonewall penalty When the opposition manager admits it's a penalty it's definitely a penalty.
Carl Shutt is God
If Maguire had not been looking for it then it would have been given. However having now watched it 10 times it was a penalty every day of the week. The defender comes in and makes a challenge but gets nothing of the ball. If that had been at the other end you can bet it would have been given. We don't get penalties and I would say Chris Powell's reaction when asked about it tells you everything you need to know. Mike Hunt
Cannot believe so many of you think it was not a pen . He pushed the ball past the defender, the defender missed the ball and took Maguire down . The yellow will be rescinded
